Keep Tara in your thoughts - attacked by the neighbours dog *GRAPHIC PHOTOS*

Today is her second post op checkup.
The surgical vest has been amazing and this is what it looks like this morning.
I’m happier that it looks better but I’m still taking her in anyway.

That’s looks very good.
-no puffiness
-no drainage
-no discoloration

I would venture into more movement and exercise as much as she can tolerate.
Of course no running/jumping.

Thanks guys! Vet visit went well.
With the help of the vest she’s healing really well. She actually had 6 stitches removed. Still a few more to be removed on Monday when we go back again.
We didn’t opt for the medication that calms her. We are trying to avoid it as she’s not been messing with it with her vest on. The vet made it clear that it is an option, if needed, but last resort as it will almost put her in an unconscious state.
We are slowly making her walks on lead a little longer.
She’s funnily enough snoozing right now 🙄🤣 but I’ll definitely get an updated pic when she’s up and moving around.
Thanks for all your kind words of love and support, you’re all amazing! IMG_9211.webp

Bless her heart!!! Brings tears to my eyes as I skim through here to catch up on your thread. Poor Tara! My worse nightmare is a dog attack. Just frightening for Tara AND you! It can be so hard to walk a dog through a neighborhood not knowing what can happen. I'm so glad to hear that she is healing well and looking happy. It hurts my heart see her wounds and imagine what she went through. [[[HUGS]]]

My goodness what a nightmare.
Glad to read the owner stepped up on the vet bills.
I think I remember reading in the UK the PM has banned American bull dogs?
Sounds like this is far from an isolated case.

And a hedge? To contain a dog? Seriously?
WTF were they thinking?

Wound looks to be healing up well.👍

What laws are in place for a stout walking stick?
Or a Shillelagh? Hope I spelled that right?
Are tasers legal there?

So sorry I've not seen this terrible story until today, what a horrible experience for Tara, Titan and yourself so glad that Tara is on the mend after such a horrible injury 😢 and so pleased Titan didn't get so badly injured, some people should never have dogs they seem to treat them as an accessory and have no idea how to treat them properly, it makes it worst that the dog has to pay for their mistakes.

I don't know about the laws on tools, but I think I'm going to study some self defense (and defense of your own dog) methods and maybe a new thread for legal ideas, with everyone being responsible to adhere to what is legal in your own country or state. Feel free to start the thread, @Gelcoater, I'll join in later, but I've got lots going on right now and don't want to start talking until I do some research. I know what I've got and what I'd use if I knew that I was going to be facing bad dogs every day on my walks, but I don't want to get off topic on this thread.

I know the government are working to define the breed type and should be implemented by the end of this year. The American bulldog, currently has to me muzzled when out in public, that’s to the best of my knowledge. I *think* the talk is more about the American Bully XL type (to be banned in the UK)

All removed, a good clean up and we’re done.
The vet was super happy that she sailed through recovery with such ease.
I’m so relieved, I can’t tell you enough. Through the mental and physical trauma inflicted on this girl….she’s a true fighter.
When my husband scooped her up in his arms because her legs collapsed underneath her for a flit second I thought we’d lost her. She was in a terrible state after that savage attack.

She turns 10 next week. She’s having the biggest party EVER! 🎉❤️
