Crop Pics - Lets see your style!

So we're running into the issue of Zeus's one post popping out at the bottom of his ear, usually after he has shook his head. We try to deter him from it but can't always catch him.

My question is... Is the post popping out because the Vet isn't pushing it down far enough to sit in the bottom of the ear or should we switch Zeus name to Houdini.

Sorry no pictures yet..

I guess we covered that in your other thread.

It's really best to learn to post yourself ..I have heard some horror stories about vets that can't post very well at all..funny right but some really just don't care to really learn ..I will post this video..it's new to me but I think it's the ticket be patient and give it a try ..pretty sure this will be a good method for keeping the post in the ear as well. ;) I use Amazon for the supplies by the way.

I want to say something else here as I was thinking about it..by the way something I am a guility of myself and I slap myself for my lack as well.. Flynn's breeder taught me or more like reminded me of something really important.. When she wrapped the pups ears even for and especially for the very first time.. She cuddled those puppies in her arms on their backs..she just loved on those pups no hurry just really got them so relaxed ..that by the time she wrapped ears while they were still right there in her lap they were almost asleep and wrapping was not a big deal at all ..the pups looked forward to it for the most part! It was like the dog whisperer ..almost magic..
If you can chose the time of day when it's around nap time anyway the experience for you and the puppies will be such a great bonding moment. If you notice in the video this dog was being compliant but not really happy about the wrapping ..it was more of an ordeal..I am guilty of being in a big hurry etc too..but my next pup I have promised myself to follow that breeders method ..it was truly a joy to watch! In fact make any training fun as much as you can for the dog..the results of being gentle and not forcing them is truly magic..These guys are so willing to please and so smart..it just makes so much difference. ;)

Earlier when I was looking at Zeus ears he calmed right down and let me move them around and mess with them without any fuss. I was actually quite surprised at how well he was just sitting there between my legs while I messed with his wounds. I saw some light at the tunnel lol

May have to try this method out. I found this one and thought it seemed pretty easy and self explanatory. Although I'm sure a lot of what works best is just through trial and error.
That one is pretty outdated, even though it may be effective. Here's the method most of us use.

And if you want to go with the adhesive route, here's another. They're almost the same thing, except one uses back taping and the other uses the adhesive.

Thank you @JanS!! The adhesive method looks very messy and being our first time posting; kinda of intimidating lol. But may have to give it a shot as you guys are the experts!!

I don't agree that it's outdated ..I have never used the zip tie method and I have used the one you are recommending but I just think I like the zip tie method a bit better..depending on cost ..I have not looked into that aspect yet .. but either way should work well. I like the black tape for looks and that is new to me...Guess maybe I'm just outdated..no surprise there.. this way doesn't seem to put quite as much bulk into the ear ..I think it just may allow more air and more hearing but that is just my take on it..As I have said I have never tired it ..yet.

They can really sense your energy. This is proof! We were a nervous wreck for ear posting even though we had someone else doing it and when we saw how she was man handling the ears and K was just totally fine like nothing at all was happening, we realized he was feeding off our nervous energy.

Ive tried both methods and both work well, I prefer the backer rod method as it is easier and less prep work (or I find it so), but I definitely wouldn't use the Super 77 on skin... best to look for medical grade adhesive.. there is Torbots bonding cement, Hollister Medical Adhesive Spray, and what I'm currently using is Torbot's Skin Tac. (There are other brands too) I can attest that the Skin Tac is fabulous and cheap (and on Amazon Prime:thumbsup:!

Is it just me or is this woman in this video wrapping the wrong direction!?!?

Yes she is!!!! Good catch. "Always back to front" she says. She is tucking the fold back but you barely see that she tucking it and I didn't watch the whole thing to see if she says to fold it back. IMO that needs to be edited or removed.

Curious, does anyone know why she would insist to "always wrap back to front"? Does it make a difference if one is mindful of the fold? Does it change how it stands? It seems like it would make more sense (and less likely to make a mistake with the fold) to wrap medially to laterally.. Remy's ears are doing absolutely fantastic doing it @JanS method so I'm def not changing it up but always intrigued to learn different ideas!

Tried finding a way to edit my post but not sure if I can. Admin may have to delete
She meant the person who made the video and not you. It does make for good discussion so you can leave it here.

I'm sure you could technically do it either way as long as you get the fold in the right direction but to me, it's like putting a roll of TP on the wrong way. :D I like to start in the front and attach the first part of the tape to the post itself so it holds better and it does wrap more uniformly going front to back, IMO.

Yes exactly on both counts! (I had meant the video lady's method :bag:) And that is a HUGE pet peeve of mine as well!!! I don't care where I am, if the TP is on backwards I flip that :poop: back the right way!!
