Crop Pics - Lets see your style!

We are still taping up the ears but will leave them out when we go places like the farmer's market or trip to lowe's/pet store. It's so refreshing not hearing the whole "what are those things in her ears?" over and over again. :groan:
Her left ear tends to still "flop" in the middle after a few hours so I think we are going to consistently keep taking for a little while longer. She just turned 6 months earlier this month. I am in love with her crop though. All the hard work will be worth it when they are settled!

Wish I could be part of this thread, but living in California 2.5 hours south of the Oregon border our options for ear cropping are almost nill. We could drive 4 hours to Oakland, 3 hours to Klamath Falls or 3.5 to Stockton. The other possible option is 30 minutes away but charging almost a grand. Sheesh.

That's about how far my breeder drove. It's worth it if it's an experienced cropping vet.

Wow $1000 is pricey so the drive would be worth it. I think both of ours cost around $350 and they were good crop vets.

How expensive are the 3-4 hr drive copping vets? Are they in the $300-500 range? I know it's a long drive but you'd only be making that drive 3-4 times max.

Anybody else on this forum in Northern California/Oregon area?

Don't get me wrong I love my floppy eared dobie but people get confused as to what type of breed she is and readily approach her whereas that never happens with my cropped pup - well unless it's a dobie lover.

$1000 sounds about right...for Canada. Cropping is banned in most provinces so breeders (in the western provinces) actually fly out to Calgary with whole litters to get them done. Of course breeders get reduced rates.

If you want it done, you should keep looking. We entertained the idea of going to the US for our crop as the prices are much lower there, but since this is our first Dobe, we didn't think the risk was worth it.

I would do $350 especially if the vet was local, as long as they were experienced, etc.
Yes, you definitely want to be sure to ask for photos of their past work to be sure they do a nice crop. We don't have any crop vets around here anymore either so I'd have a 4 hour drive to the nearest reputable one but really it would be worth it. I'm sure it would only be one trip for you since your local vet could remove the stitches. We have quite a few good step by step tutorials here and lots of people to answer questions so the posting would be a piece of cake.

We decided to do it. I'll be sure to post pics here!
Just please make sure it's a cropping vet that has lots of experience. And you're able to see pictures or get a reference for his/her work. It's definitely worth it but not when it's a botched job.

Anyone recommend vets in the Michigan/Ohio area that do crops? Having a hard time finding any that are credible or can show previous crops they've done.

Thanks in advance

Dr. Main in Allegan did Albert's but he's retired now.
