Okay great thank you for the advice. I will definitely keep posting!Oh, you've got to post for much longer past the age of 16 weeks. I'm on my third Doberman and each case has been different. With my most recent one, I went to change his posts and found that they were standing beautifully – this at a pretty young age – like about the age of yours now. I started a thread here called something like "My (aged) Dobe's ears are standing. What do I do?" I had not known a Dobe to have ears stand so early on. I thought I might have a rare case. Turns out they may well stand pretty young when you remove the posts, but they will sag. The cartilage has not hardened sufficiently yet. Then, yes, you have the fact that the ears commonly fall during teething.
Okay thank you! That makes me feel much better. I had dobes growing up but was never actually involved in the ear cropping/postingprocess. It’s very involved but well worth it.Welcome! They're actually off to a good start and as stated, you normally need to go through teething (at least 6 months) and sometimes longer for longer crops. They will really start flopping for anyone who stops at 16 weeks since their cartilage is in no way formed yet.
I find it a great bonding time and actually enjoy it.I had dobes growing up but was never actually involved in the ear cropping/posting process. It’s very involved but well worth it.
His crop looks beautiful! The general rule is 7 months or so. There are some helpful groups on FB for posting ears yourself. I post my 4 1/2 month old puppy’s ears with the zip tie method (Prima Doberman’s method). It works great!Hi everyone! This is my Bruce he is 16 weeks old. I asked for a medium crop but I think his is on the longer side. I’ve been posting since March 16th. Anyways, I’m getting discouraged everytime I think we are done posting they flop please tell me I’m just being a worrier and they’ll stand eventually
So the pictures in order are
May 1st
May 2nd
May 3rd
His appointment is tomorrow morning for re posting
Aww and sitting on a step! You'll be posting until they're done teething - 5-7 months!This is my boy’s medium crop. His crop was done by Dr. Pew in Utah. He’s 4 months old and we’re still posting!
He’s such a goof... always taking a seat randomlyAww and sitting on a step! You'll be posting until they're done teething - 5-7 months!
I like that about them. So particular!He’s such a goof... always taking a seat randomly
That is a nice crop! I noticed it in another thread. It actually looks quite similar to my Oji's crop, but Oji's takes just a bit more of a dramatic cut in from the bell as it goes up.Here’s a side profile of my little girl Remy. She got a modified show. The vet cropped her according to her head. She’s almost 6mo in this picture

So, at almost 6 months, were you still posting or were you done?
@Juliobjj21
You are doing a great job!!!
Keep it going and don’t give in to the temptation to stop until after he is finished teething!
