I've found that to be true and I do watch it after the dog is settles and it changes the weight.I know sometimes I feel like they take the weight too quickly at the vet's office. They don't let the dogs settle for very long.

Same here lol. Since she was called overweight this weekendIt's getting hard to spot her ribs now, so I am taking just a little out of her diet very slowly, while making sure I am balancing that she gets enough for proper filling out.

Someone at or with the WAE event say that about her?Since she was called overweight this weekend
From your photos I don't think she is. Some people just have big mouths and have to speak, whether it's stupid or not. LOLSince she was called overweight this weekend
But what do YOU think? Is she losing her "waist" when viewed from above? Is it hard to feel her ribs? Asha is 25 1/2" at the withers and stays between 66 - 69 lbs, once hitting 71. She does carry more weight for the couple of months after heat. Lean is always preferable for all health reasons, especially Dobermans. Since you brought this up in the Pepper thread and again here, I'm wondering if you are agreeing with their comment or disagreeing with it? I truly hope that whoever said that, they were trying to be helpful, not hurtful.Since she was called overweight this weekend![]()
Yep as soon as we got out of the car- well she’s a little overweightSomeone at or with the WAE event say that about her?

Well, I took offense a bit because I try so darn hard with her. I don’t think this woman was trying to be helpful as she kept jabbing. But what do YOU think? That's just rude. I'd be offended too.I took offense a bit because I try so darn hard with her. I don’t think this woman was trying to be helpful as she kept jabbing.
If this is her sweet spot where she looks (and feels) her best, it's always helpful. After age 2 mine has stayed within about 4 lbs. every time she gets weighed. I don't mind a little fluctuations, especially when I know she's been working extra hard, or if we recently did less than usual or if it was her gain-time after her heat. I usually don't change food for any of that because it self-adjusts.Pepper 63.4!
So I guess 71 was too much![]()
That's the way most of our dogs have been and I just adjust the food by looking at them. I recently cut Olive back a bit (much to her dismay) since she was looking a little thick to me. She was 59# at her last vet appointment when she was spayed and I have an appointment for her in a couple weeks so it will be interesting to see where she sits now.If this is her sweet spot where she looks (and feels) her best, it's always helpful. thanks for the information!I believe the the legs are the largest part when they are at this adolescent age of 4-9 months... I think that they are not fully developed but they are nearly there by the time the puppy is about 6 months... they continue to grow in height and fill out of course, but adult height is reached at about 12-18 months and then the maturing and filling out process continues in males till they are around 3 years old... then they stay trim and fit as long as they are worked or keep up with activity or they start to get 'overweight' often, just like we do in 'middle age' from about 3-7... so at this age, you have a pretty good idea how big those feet and legs are going to be...
I was curious how much heavier in bone Saava was to his compatriots, because he weighs so much more... his bones are obviously very heavy.. since they are thicker than Gemma's as she is 20 months old and a big girl!
Did she get taller?a little surprise weight loss from Zastava over the past month:
