Doberman puppy owners - track your weight gain here

Z is perfect!
Thanks! I should mention here that I am not at all disappointed with her size. I think she looks great, and she sure is agile AF! I am very happy with her and her body condition. I am a little surprised with 2 things: 1. Her dad is 105 and her mom is 82 pounds, so 63 is a touch of a head scratcher, but hey she still tracks and is inside breed standard. And 2. Katyusha grew forever, like 3 years, and lots of people say they continue to fill out up to 1.5 years or even more, so it's more like "whoa I guess she might just be leveled out already?"

So surprised, but I don't want anyone to think for a minute that I'm anything other than totally thrilled with her. :)

Asha was recently weighed and was 71# - first time over 69 in her life (5 3/4 years). But she is extremely muscular and I've had two comments recently about how she has filled out in the last year or two.

I doubt Agatha has made it 60lbs yet but I is doing my best to get her there! :)

She was 56.2lbs when she came to live here at a smidge over 2 yrs old.

My Vet checked her out and 'did' suggest I put a little meat on her butt so...

There was green beans and baked potatoes tossed in with her kibble tonight. She most definitely approved of the additions to her kibble! :)

Not going to love this girl any less if she ends up being on the smaller side of the Dober weight range here. :)

Olive was 59.6 at the vet last week so I'm not sure she'll ever break that 60# mark. I'm totally fine with that though.

You are better off with her being the size / weight she is in my opinion.

If she gains a tiny bit as she gets older and slows down some it won't be that bad. She will still be in a good / normal range.

What you don't want is one that is overweight to begin with and THEN they get older and slow down (and put on even more weight they did not need).

I love my fat girl but it would do her a world of good if she lost at least 10lbs. Her being older and having slowed down some it has been really hard to keep her weight in check (keep it from going up more at least) without me feeling like I am starving the poor girl. :(

I am pretty unhappy with myself for letting her get so big 3 or 4 years ago when it would have been MUCH easier then to correct than it is now.

I agree and it's so much better for them not to be packing on extra pounds. Olive is a petite girl so I think this is a good weight for her.

She looks perfect in the recent pictures you have shared. :)

You got a right to be proud of her for sure! :)

for the first time since 10 months, she broke the 63 pound range she had been stuck at forever.

2024.11.18 63.0 pounds
2024.12.13 10 months 63.0 pounds
2025.01.13 11 months 63.2 pounds
2025.02.12 1 year old 63.6 pounds
2025.03.13. 13 months. 63.6 pounds
2025.04.15 14 months 63.4 pounds
2025.06.24 near 16 months 65.8 pounds

During our Fiasco with the corn cob, I weighed Annie at the vet and she weighed in at 68 lb. Last time I weighed her was when I tried picking her up myself and she weighed in at 70 lb. So it was pretty accurate considering she hadn't been eating much for a day and a half before her x-ray. So it seems she may be around 70 lb now that she is almost full grown. She was a year old on March 9th, 2025.

On a scale at home?

That is likely to be a lot more accurate than any scale at the vet.

Mine was not expensive at all but still does better than what I have seen at local vet clinics here. Used a scale at a nearby clinic one time and got 3 different numbers weighing the same dog 3 times in a row (zeroing between weights). Multiple lbs differences... :(

My home scale does not suffer from any such obvious problems. Acshually has a built in setting where if you get on the scale twice it will display the difference after that second time.

The difference being the dogs weight here.

Could be. But me lifting a 70 lb dog is really a feat! 🥵 I did it that one time and when I saw that it was 70 lb I thought wow! Could that be right? LOL but seeing that she's almost 70 lb on the vet scale I figured it was pretty darn close. And that was 68 lb after a couple of days of not eating a lot. So we must be right on the money. I know sometimes I feel like they take the weight too quickly at the vet's office. They don't let the dogs settle for very long. I guess they probably don't care if it's that accurate but we do! 😁

Same boat here. Agatha is not a problem to pick up at 60ish lbs but ain't no way I is picking up Dystopia (aka - Chunk) if I can possibly avoid it. :)
