Did Jasper step on Remi's tail there for a moment? and she didn't react at all.
(Just reminds me of one of my cats who's tail I accidentally stepped on once followed by dramatic reaction, but that's another story)

Oh, I don’t know! I can tell you he has stepped on her a couple times. He gets so excited to play and hops over her, sometimes a paw lands in the wrong spot. Then I have to try to calm him down without too much discipline because I don’t want to discourage him from interacting with her. I feel like theres a thin line there.

Today there was a moment in the kitchen where he didn’t want her in his space and he corrected her. But in dobie fashion he was loud and blew it out of proportion. I did make him lay down and made her sit near him until he chilled out. Idk if that was the right thing to do? But he really scared her and I felt it wasn’t warranted.

I think you're right to calm him down if he gets too rough and praise calm interaction, since she is merely an infant and has no clue of her own size. While dogs recognize each others' age by scent, I can't help wonder if it conflicts with Jasper's visual perception of her size.

I think this is a good thing. She needs to learn to respect him and his space. Can he become an asshat jerk about it? Yes, but that’s where your judgement comes in.

I messed this up some with Ragnar and Freyja. I was so concerned that Freyja would become scared of Ragnar that I corrected him everytime he corrected her. So I actually conditioned him to not correct her.

This was fine when she was a puppy and small/cute but as she got older, she became more of a relentless bully on him always wanting to play or be first in/out door, into kitchen, into car, etc… so now he does not correct her at all. She just rolls all over him and he does not like it but he will not correct her. Maybe it’s because of his nature or because I would get into him for correcting her early on.

A lot of our members forewarned me that the red female would become the Alpha even though she is younger…..

I really wish Ragnar would stick up and put her in her place. I keep an ECollar on her to keep her in check. She just made 1yr so I am hoping she will chill out with him as she matures.

Rubie was very confused when we brought Moo home because she was the "only child" but then she realized she had someone to constantly boss around and all was good

I cannot wait to see her grow!! And I'm sorry if I missed it (apparently I miss alot!), but did you have pictures of her parents? I think her face markings are the cutest GD thing I've ever seen.

That's what happened under my roof too. Elder dog wouldn't correct Asha at all, and by the time Asha was 4 - 5 months old she was a total bully toward Reckless and it caused 100 more problems that if Reckless had just nipped it in the bud with some serious snaps or growls. I agree that as long as Jasper doesn't bully the puppy - snapping a warning that "get out of my space" or "I've had enough" kind of talk is perfectly fine and will settle the pack order. Asha's introduction to the e-collar was entirely started due to bullying the elder dog. She's almost 2 now and it's a pretty quiet household. I couldn't imagine having to control her if she was the size of this Dane puppy!

Yeah, Rubie overcorrects when all Moo needs is a side eye She's never hurt him, it's just loud and sudden. We tell her to knock it off but otherwise, there isn't any 'punishment.' We give them a minute to chillax and remove the toy or whatever initiated the reaction.

He has corrected her a good handful of times and I let him do his thing. This one scenario was weird, it happened so fast but I am pretty sure she just walked near him, not even towards him. He really got on her for it.

I almost wish I had cameras in my house so I could rewatch this stuff lol!

Are you kidding? I think I can speak for most of us to say that we'd be disappointed if we didn't see lots of photos and videos.

I think they're adjusting very well and IMO, the females of pretty much any breed are going to try to take on the alpha role.

It was pouring outside this morning. Going out in the rain three times last night stunk. I was enjoying the beautiful weather we were having since I was able to sit in the yard with the dogs. Remi is getting her second parvo shot tomorrow so I haven’t taken her anywhere public yet. I am looking forward to taking some walks in the fields with both of the dogs.

Puppy nap time means we can take a bit of a break. Im suffering from a sinus infection too

Anyone have any idea why Jasper is still sniffing this puppy’s “area.” LOL. He sniffs her and literally lifts her hind end up. Then he does the teeth chattering and drools. Like she has been here for several days now, and shes a tiny puppy and he is neutered. Will this ever stop? He is drooling all over her lmao

Ragnar did this with Freyja. I corrected him on it and he has learned it is unfavorable.

He learned quickly and will no longer “openly” do it.

Thank you! I have never had a female dog. I was hoping that in thw first couple days he was just getting to know her. But now its like- seriously? We will be more consistent with correcting him then. Appreciate the input!
