That's about normal gain for this age and they'll grow in spurts but when they're really young it's pretty considerable. They'll usually slow down some by the time they're 4 or 5 months, but after that it can roughly average about 3# per week until they're a year or so, then gradually gain and fill out longer than that.

No worries, those boys like to take their time maturing. Most don't maure until they are 2 years old or longer. My boy stayed right at 70 pounds forever. Seemed like overnight he just bloomed.
Always better to have a lean mean machine.

That's the weight of my boy, basically. He's 2 1/2 years now and is 70 lbs. I'm curious: Is your boy narrow in the chest and shoulders like mine?
