Just weighed my tubby girl Nonnie, she's 54 lbs today at 25 weeks. She's also about 23-24 inches at the withers. It seems like just the other day she was 11-12 lbs and so small.

Is this wrist measure on the narrowest part of the foot, in the foto above that would be just above the black hair?

Usually a dogs growth plates are considered closed by 18 months - When the growth plate closes the bones are pretty much done growing from then on it is just filling out with muscle mass.
Thank you for that info. What about the feet and legs? The feet esp the front lower and paws are ahead of the game so to speak and the rest of the body and skeleton catch up in time so at what age approx would you consider the front lower limbs to be as big as they are going to get in a pup?
I believe the the legs are the largest part when they are at this adolescent age of 4-9 months... I think that they are not fully developed but they are nearly there by the time the puppy is about 6 months... they continue to grow in height and fill out of course, but adult height is reached at about 12-18 months and then the maturing and filling out process continues in males till they are around 3 years old... then they stay trim and fit as long as they are worked or keep up with activity or they start to get 'overweight' often, just like we do in 'middle age' from about 3-7... so at this age, you have a pretty good idea how big those feet and legs are going to be...
I was curious how much heavier in bone Saava was to his compatriots, because he weighs so much more... his bones are obviously very heavy.. since they are thicker than Gemma's as she is 20 months old and a big girl!

Its still a bit of a struggle to get her to eat a bunch but at least she is gaining quite a bit and growing.Woo Jess, she's making excellent progress now that she's well settled in with you guys!![]()

6 weeks?! Goodness they sent him home young. Be sure you make every effort to socialize him once his shots are through to make up for this lost time with his siblings. If you have a Petco near you you might look into taking him to a Puppy Playtime so he can get that socialization in a safe environment before his shots are done. As far as how much he will gain per week the general rule is about 10 lbs a month so about 2.5 lbs a week. But remember, each puppy is different. When it comes to puppies the directions on the bag aren't often correct. The general thought is that you give them enough that they eat their fill and leave some kibble behind. If he eats the 2 cups and looks for more, give him more. Offer him a cup at each meal, see how much he eats, and go from there. My new puppy, Rooster (like rooster cogburn played by John Wayne) is 6 weeks and 9.6 lbs. He was approx. An inch taller and much stockier than his litter mates and has European blood. How much (approx.) should he be growing per week? And my science diet bag says he should eat 2 cups a day but it seems like he should be eating at least 3..?

Most people here will tell you that 16 weeks is too old. Our girl was cropped at 7 weeks, our boy at 8 1/2 weeks. Have you researched vets in your area that can do the crop? If you tell us where you are located someone might be able to help you find someone. Have you found photos of the style and length you are looking for? This is a great thread for finding photos to show your vet: http://www.doberman-chat.com/community/index.php?forums/doberman-puppies.92/. Good luck!I'm also planning on getting his ears done but I've found a lot of different opinions on the best age to have them done. My normal vet says 16 weeks but a lot of people say that's too old. I want to get the straight cut- medium length.
