Here Ranger is at 14 weeks, they grow so fast!
LOL about someone climbing over you.Wow! When did you get his ears done? I hope roosters are standing on their own at 14 weeks
(if you saw that HTML ordeal.. It's difficult to do HTML while SOME ONE is climbing all over you and chewing on your face lmao)

Roosters ears may already start standing at 14 weeks depending on the length, but it takes lots of time and diligence beyond that to get them perfect.![]()
You can do them til they're 12 weeks and still have them successfully stand (with a faithful posting routine), so don't fret.Hey guys I am having trouble with roosters ear cropping.. I'm not sure when to do it. I was planning on 10 weeks, but a lot of people are saying 9 weeks is the oldest you can do it.. Plus the long I wait the heavier he is and there are some articles about anistetic (sp?) problems.. Which I know is always an issue but not I think I'm just over worrying myself and I'm not sure what to do.. He is 7 weeks 11+ lbs now so by 10 weeks he will be about 16 lbs?
Of course the anesthesia is always a tiny bit of a risk, but the odds of a complication are very slim and there are a few people who always like to toss a huge fear factor into everything, so don't take everything you hear online to heart.
If you want to do it at 10 weeks, go for it.I just called a vet in Oregon that I was referred to so I could make a decision early with my new pup. They suggest 8-12 weeks. My vet that I took Nonnie to wanted to do it before she turned 8 weeks, her ears stood after 10 days, but it's not the exact cut that I would have prefered, so that's why I decided to go another route with my next. Everyone on DCF has been awesome with answering questions, along with the breeder I am working with. If you don't have a vet in mind that is known for Dobe ears, you can just ask and people in your area or know some in your area will chime in and give you lots of advice.Hey guys I am having trouble with roosters ear cropping.. Yes sir, it was. I also talked to my breeder and she recommends him (#1) too. So I feel really good about that decision. Thank you for your help with it.Michelle, was that the vet I told you about?
Not to hijack the thread....so I'll get some weights & measurements soon and get them posted.
