I forgot to update... Ripley had 2 weeks to go on Saturday! I don't think she'll have anymore than 6 at the most but thats fine with me for her first litter. Watch her surprise us now. Maybe shes just good at carrying them :wacky:

Cute little blurb I made for my FB page. She's pictured last Friday here.

So... what do we think? Anyone want to change their guesses? 😁 Rip Thursday on her daily jaunt outside for exercise.

She's tricky. It'll be interesting to see how many they see on Monday!!

I stand by my choice! Do they always see all the pups on ultrasound?
No definitely not the ultrasound. Ultrasound is good for confirmation of pregnancy but not number of pups while X-ray usually yes they will be able to see everything by then since it is taken so late in gestation. It can rarely be off by one puppy if they are over one another but usually you can count all spines and skulls.

I'll stick with my guess of 8. She's looking like it could be more, but then I haven't seen very many dogs, much less Dobes that are this close to whelping. Maybe they're that big even carrying 4 or 5? 🤷‍♀️ She looks happy and healthy - is her demeanor changing?

She's definitely looking huge so I think it's going to be more than my original guess of 6. Add one more black boy and one more black girl to mine.

I want to stick to my original answer of 7, but then I also feel like saying 12 lol. Maybe they will be 7 chunky puppies. Or 12 skinny ones. I can’t decide 🤪

She has really dropped! I always go with the odd #, so I'll have to agree with Kaiser and say 7 (or 9).

She looks happy and healthy - is her demeanor changing?
Shes very happy and healthy! Her demeanor hasn't changed...just as spunky as ever. Dare I say, more so? If only I could trial her right now, her attention and responsiveness to me is so snappy. She has been sleeping in her whelping box alone for the past 2-3 weeks but last night she demanded that one of us sleep in the same room as her. She would not let up on her little yip barks. So we figured may as well set our spare mattress up in there in preparation for when we do sleep in there with her probably for all of next week and into the first week after the puppies are here. She quieted right down once I joined her like all was well... :purps:

I guess I lied, shes HUNGRY. all. of. the. time!! She quietly begs when we eat, she's never done that. I'm sure she'd figure out how to do a back flip for a bite of people food if she could right now. She's eating 4x a day now so I know shes not actually hungry, but those pregnancy cravings got her acting wild.

So we all think more than 3 it sounds like. :woot2:

Give her some extra! When Kaiser acts like he’s starving I’ll give him some bread and milk LOL. I figure it’s light enough but filling so that he can feel a bit fuller without really eating a lot.

Well I would but I've been on stool watch while slowly increasing her food and she gets loose stools with any more than she's eating. Did you know a majority of dogs are lactose intolerant? Milk usually gives them the runs 😅

Oh definitely don’t want to upset that tummy! I thought it was just cats that were lactose intolerant. Our cat can’t handle any dairy. Kaiser can eat everything but tomatoes.
