Random Photo of the Day - 2019 - post yours!

Taking the dogs for a walk always means there is a stalk and a chase by the time we get back to the barn! :D Sometimes, it ends up in the corral. Horses or no horses!

Looks like a normal picture of my horses, right?

Take a closer look! ;)

Yea. That's Buddy running under and between the legs of my Palomino and behind Stilts! He had chased Kali across the corral and she was already on the outside of the corral (you can see her in the top photo) She can sneak through several spots in the fence that Buddy can't fit through. So he picked this spot! Happens all the time. The horses are like :whoop: :spit: They've never kicked at man or beast and the dogs leave them alone too. Except to go through their legs!

Buddy, on the other side, cornering poor Kali! No worries. She's a tough bitch.

So I was bored and decided to paracord Jaspers prong collar. It was super easy and I think it looks much better.

If I ever use a prong collar in the future, i will have to remember this! Did you have instructions to guide you, or are you just adept with the paracord? What you did there looks better than any other decorative/hiding technique I've seen.

Thanks I appreciate it! If you google the paracord cobra bracelet technique thats what I used. You just have to pretend that the prong is the bones of the collar. So your stitching needs to go around it so it stays on. I should have taken a picture with directions.

I took him to the vets today to get a weight on him and no one mentioned the prong (which they usually do). So I think it worked well. Side note: my Jasper is turning a year old on the 17th. He weighs 82lbs. Bigger than I thought. I was thinking he was in the mid 70’s. Either way he looks good I keep him fit.

Did a 5k through through a zoo today! My face sums it up. If this picture was a bit more to the left, the tiger was out and playing!

Beat my previous "best" (I've run two 5ks ever) by 3 minutes! The 1st place time was 22mins I believe.

Then walked around the zoo to which was otherwise empty. This guy was pretty active.

Now I'm drinking a bloody Mary on the couch. :martini:

Tell me no. Because this dude is only a half hour away and I have adopted from here before! Yes he is a male. Probably neutered. Probably not the best thing having him and Jasper. Just saw him and got that “feeling.” If you know what I mean.

Young. Male. Will take away training from also young Jasper. Pushy male with an unneutered male. Already adoption pending. No Lizbeli :p but hey maybe in another six months to a year something to keep an eye on for a female? Most rescues will require all dogs in the house to be fixed, unfortunately. Not really a rule I agree with but I understand their concern.

Absolutely NO. You don’t want to set Jasper back with his training and manners. SSA is a real thing and once it rears it’s ugly head it will be difficult to trust training to eliminate it.

Most Doberman Rescues won’t even consider placing an excitable male dog or any male dog in a home with another male dog intact or not.

Wait until a Jasper is fully trained and you feel confident another (female) Dobe
would be a good fit into your home.
If both dobies are excitable, jumpy and high energy their rough play can easily escalate into a full on fight.

@Lizbeli how old is Jasper now? I -think- around eight months if my memory serves me correct? If so, while as tempting as it may be, IMO you owe it to him to dedicate yourself to raising him through adolescence without the distractions of another juvenile dog. Once he is more mature and his training has progressed, it is much easier to welcome another young (unruly) dog in to focus on. Brinks was 2 when I brought Rio home and I wouldn’t do much younger than that, especially since this breed matures more slowly than others. As far as SSA it is real and it does happen but it also doesn’t mean just because you have two boys or two girls that they absolutely will hate each other and have a problem... look at my boys. In a two dog household I would try to get opposites but when you have more there’s not much you can do lol.

Also Jax is very cute, but, most of them are. I absolutely HAVE to stay away from shelter and adoption sites because it’s torturous to see all these dogs in need, knowing I am not in a place to take them in. Also the shelter is in a position to make all the dogs sound as appealing as possible.

My little buddy... the neighbors pig has figured out how to not only escape his pen, but that duck food is readily available at my house. I don’t mind because he’s cute, and friendly. Yesterday I sat on my front porch scratching his ears like I do the dogs, he just stood there making these really sweet little noises. Poor thing is covered in scabs and his eyes are so gunked idk how he can see.

AJ at the vet Tuesday. A high school classmate who's a Facebook friend coaches high school baseball and had a birthday. Going out the door, I picked up a baseball out of the Found pile so I could see if a photo op arose. I put a caption on the picture and posted it for him.
