Ragnar and Freyja

Wow, the body difference is really noticeable in some of the shots. Ragnar definitely has a deeper chest, and it's not just a male/female thing, because Freyja's chest is closer to Kaiser's - unless K has a bitch's body :spit: It is so lucky that she stays close by even off leash, people train years for that!

Ya, I found the same with Fromm, you can feed less of it so it's less $ in the long run. Ugh, I hate the times we feed fish because the smell is just extra gross. When I think about it, K is probably eating more frequently as well - we do 2 formal meals in a bowl, but his evening training involves treats and he has a little treat dispensing ball so he can "wind down" at the end of the day. Nevermind all the snacks I'm sharing with him haha.

I may be kinda different than the norm. I still feed 3x day for a couple of reasons.
1. The wife and girls really enjoy feeding them at noon when I am not home- go figure on that.
2. I have read multiple times that three smaller meals may decrease the chances of bloat vs two larger meals. Though I do not allow running and play, I do not crate them after feeding. They do act stupid time to time.
3. Ragnar fricking eats EVERYTHING when he gets hungry. Grass, sticks, socks, rocks, dirt, etc....I have found this tends to decrease with the three smaller meals vs two larger meals a day.

This month, I have moved to feeding both of them Fromm adult Gold. I say that but PetFlow sent me a bag of Fromm Salmon Flavored so I just mixed it in with a bag of the Adult Gold. Prob messed up with this, that Salmon stinks.....and they fricking love it. Will be interesting when we go back to straight Adult Gold.

I feed Ragnar a little over 1/2cup morn and lunch and a full cup for dinner. I do the larger portion at dinner because he was having hunger pukes early in the morn with the 1/2cup. Moved dinner to full cup and morn hunger pukes have stopped. I also think that these portions are prob right on- anymore than this and I notice he gets that fat fold around his neck. Funny because when I see this happen, I ask and find out that somebody is feeding him a full cup in morn or lunch instead of 1/2cup. I also find that I do not have to feed as much Fromm as the other brands I have fed in the past. Fromm may be more expensive but IMHO, I think it is by far the best dry kibble Ragnar has had- and I’ve prob went through 6-7 different brands.

Freyja came back from board/train very thin...something else that really upset me. So I will continue with 3cups 3x a day until she fattens up. I usually put a egg and shell in her evening meal.

At some angles, it really looks like Freyja has caught Ragnar in size but don’t think she has his density. Hopefully I will remember, I will weigh both of them when I get home and post their current weights.

Lol.....I will text Payt and wife to see if they will weigh them now. They would have to hold them and step onto the scale. Freyja may allow them to do this but Ragnar is a bull to them.
I forgot to mention we
are also still using Fromm. At 3 times a day Mercy was having diarea. The Fromm people said it was due to not enough time between meals to digest. Sure enough went back to twice a day, no more diarea.

Thanks for the update! Beautiful photos, puppy-look is all gone on Freyja! Yeah, Asha got introduced to the e-collar when she just couldn't stop pestering Reckless. And if I got on to Asha, Reckless always thought she was in trouble too (plus Asha didn't even care if she got corrected). E-collar was the best solution ever. Write up your thoughts on the Dogtra, I'm sure theres several people who'd like to hear about it! Do be careful putting weight on Freyja, always better too thin than too fat, health-wise, especially while growing. I don't think she looks too thin. When we went for training in Santa Fe a few weeks ago, Asha came back much thinner, but it was just from stress and having a busy schedule, I'd fed her exactly like we did at home. In a couple of weeks she's back to her norm and instead of upping her ration, I trained more and used lots of "big prize" rewards using handfuls of kibble. So probably I did 1/4 more training with twice the usual volume of rewards and most was kibble so balanced diet rather than treats.

Freyja looks great imo! I prefer them to be lean and fit. Ragnar has a really big chest so he looks bulkier than Freyja. Not necessarily a male vs female thing there. Of course he will be bigger and weigh more than her in the end even if they were the same type wise.

We have been using the ecollar for a month now starting at 10 months for off leash recall and teaching Ripley where the property line is. She's doing fantastic with that! Slow and steady.

They're both looking great and you have some great photos there!

It's too bad you didn't get what you were hoping for with the training but maybe basic training is really the best they do so she already learned that from you.

I wish I could get that haze out of there....

Freyja is almost bigger than Ragnar now. We train prob every other day. She is getting better but man she is relentless on Ragnar!!

Need to get video of them walking with me offleash Freyja on left and Ragnar on right. She is so soft and loveable whereas Rag is hard and aloof.

A little over 9months and still no heat cycle.

Good picture, Mercy started at 9 1/2 months.

Freyja was pretty much normal until last Friday and then her private part and teats became swollen over night. Ragnar has been pacing frantically.

Received a text from Tristen that she started bleeding this morning.

One day from being 10months.

OMG.....

Freyja has never been a whiner, but holy shit, she started today. She ripped up two of her pads- never did that before, not a chewer. She must be really feeling it now?

Do the female issues (heat cycle) tend to get worse- more intense into the 2weeks and then the issues lighten up and go away??

Sincerely,
1st Timer

Yes....Lol.

0500 All was fine when I was home and let her out and then back in crate.

0627 was the post this morn when I was in the gym. All was fine.

0827 was post made at work after receiving frantic calls from wife and Tristen.

If it was Ragnar, they would be fine and just let things ride until I got home but they love them some Freyja. I have gotten 10 text and two phone calls.
