I took the bandages off and this is how she's looking.
I noticed there were some scabs so I didn't bother to remove the post yet but her ears look almost 100% healed

Boy....

That's a good looking Doberman right there!!!

If I were you---I would cut that bridge. As Oji said earlier put it lower to his head.

I would not allow the ears to be posted pointing or positioned inwards. It may cause them to teepee and/or cause ear pockets.

Just try and post them straight up/down or many people post at the 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock positions.

Having them in the 11 and 1 o'clock position still allows them to be straight?

The tape in the middle is called a bridge. As everyone has stated it should be closer to the head and at an 11 and1 position. That position allows the dog to have some movement in bringing in their ears ie at an alert stance. The bridge is only needed for a few weeks as you want your dog to work the ear muscles and have control

Trying to find a good picture of Dingo but she moved so gosh darn much as a puppy!

The bridge was always the most challenging part (for me) so I wish we'd ditched it earlier. No bows but we used Purple Paisley Duct Tape :)

Yes, sorry for the confusing picture there. I was using that one to show where the bridge can be--lower.

I did post vertical--lack of knowledge and thinking it was the right position.

@JanS has many Dobermans to my newly acquired one--so her expertise trumps my ignorance by far.

Do a search on "Another Posting Question". There is a lot of info on that thread that may help you out.

I used to put Shadow up on the counter/island. At first it was a 2 man job with my husband just holding her so she wouldn’t jump off. Within weeks she was laying down and going to sleep while I was trying to post. Then the challenge was to keep her head up.

We’re all done posting and my challenge now is trying to dremel her nails while she’s sleeping and laying sideways. I would start dremeling the nails sooner than later so they get used to it.

Tiring them out before is always helpful.

I just use a bridge for about a week or 2 after stitches are removed then just post and tape. One piece at the base and one at the tip. Top picture is when Zeke was 9 1/2 weeks bottom at 8 weeks right after stitches were removed. 3381E841-236C-4EA2-B8DB-45922CF0A7D4.jpeg
