Doberman puppy owners - track your weight gain here

I'd be more concerned looking at the ribs...Graces hips were visible from about 6 months till 11 months...but her ribs were perfect...She was going pretty fast during that time and I was feeding her 3 times a day...She had her 1st heat and it was like magic, everything moved around and she looked perfect for her size at the end of the heat.
Yes, you can see almost all of her ribs too. Not super noticeable but if you're looking. I've read that you should only be able to see the last three ribs but hers are pretty much all there. She is very active so she may just be burning it up more rapidly. I've increased her by half a cup and I'll see how it goes. She's definitely had more energy the last couple days since the increase, before she was either actively playing with me or sleeping like she's exhausted, she seemed very lethargic.

Add a bit more or a a light feeding to fine tune it...shouldn't see 3 ribs...Grace was very active too...as long as she's burning it off, you'll be fine.

BTW, I didn't switch Grace to raw until she had her adult teeth and I had her on EIGHT cups of Natures Valley Instinct...she was only 35-40 lbs... The bag said half that...LOL

She's on Orijen large puppy and is supposed to get 3 cups per the bag. I've increased her to 3 1/2. I'll just tweak it as necessary. Up until now she was steadily gaining 2-2 1/2 lbs a week.

Is that 3 cups per day or per feeding?? I fed Albert 3 meals per day until he was about a year old to help balance it out while he was growing so you might want to add a 3rd meal, if you aren't doing it already. Albert got about 2 cups per meal, or 6 cups per day at that age and Della got 1.5 cups per meal or 4.5 per day.

it's 3 cups per day. I feed her twice a day right now.

My boy, Cuda, is on Orijen Large Breed puppy also. I used to weigh it out by grams, but now I just guess. At this age/weight, I would assume they should eat around 400 grams a day. My pup is 19weeks and probably around 50 lbs. I think Orijen has such well balanced ratios for their large breed puppy food, that it makes their growth rate slower than if they were on a different kibble. It seems to me that the growth rate is more consistent to that of a raw fed puppy. So, her weight may be lower now, but she might grow longer than “normal” also.

@Minionmama as @JanS said, she looks great to me. Seeing the last three ribs faintly is normal on a young lean dog. Seeing them is also normal after exercise when they inhale (the ribcage expanded) The way the light hits them can make them look worse. Think of it like young children or athletes...you can clearly see ribs on fit people. Once she gets older, she'll put lean muscle on over those ribs. But if it bothers you, you can increase her feed some. I personally like my dogs lean. They certainly do eat more the more active they are. No week is the same for feed amount. I adjust base on how they look and their activity level is.

I guess I can start weighing her monthly since she seems to be slowing down tremendously in her gains.
She's at the age where she is going to slow down quite a bit when she's a female. I'd still venture to guess she'll mature at around 65 - 70#, which is perfect for the breed standard.
