Doberman puppy owners - track your weight gain here

Tomorrow, Shadow will be 8 months. Weighed her today at the pet salon 74lbs. How do you measure the chest and height? Is it when they are standing? And is the height measured to the top of their head?

You know? I have not measured a chest that I recall; but I imagine you'd just measure around the largest part of it.

As for height: Measure to the withers, which is the highest point of the shoulders where it joins the neck. You can stand them alongside a wall, mark the wall by holding something to it like a straightedge or the like, then let the dog walk a way and you measure to that point on the wall.

Sometimes I see people's posts on here with a chest measurement so I just didn't know how that was measured - like you would for a harness or just the width.

That's pretty cool. Bogie is at a good weight, sure hope he doesn't get much bigger. He is really starting to get some muscle on him. :)
Jax looks like he is at a perfect weight as well.

I am with you...I don't really want him to gain much more. He has held steady (or within a pound or two) for several months, though...just starting to look like a "big boy" more...not so much puppy...well, except his eyes. I don't know what it is about his eyes, but for some reason I think they might always have a puppy look. (or maybe it's just because I'll always see him as "my baby!)

Thank you.

Hello all,

I've had Creed since December and he was born September 2, 2016. He is now a few days shy of 6 months (25 weeks and 5 days) and weighs 55.4 lbs. I'm looking forward to see just how big he's going to get.

Hi, and a warm welcome to DCF from the UK.

Is that an app? Looks pretty neat!

You should start a thread in the welcome section and tell us all about Creed :)
