I pick up the bowl until the next meal if they don't finish it within 15 minutes or so. When they know it's not available any time it makes them more apt to want to eat it at regular meal times.

I have to feed my two in their crates because my beagle Maddie is a serious food processor and I truly believe she would eat herself to death. She was over 20lbs overweight when I adopted her. She has been on a diet ever since. Lol
She has lost about 14lbs with a another 6 or 7 more to go. She acts like I am totally starving her.

She's a serious foodie! lol bless her, you've done great in decreasing her weight. She must feel so much better.

I tried that! She didn't seem to care. Her bowl does get removed more when the bulldog is visiting and she does tend to eat more then but she's not food possessive so I don't think it's to prevent the bulldog from getting any. Guess she figures, "I can't bother Stella because she's eating. I might as well dig in!"

Ruby went to the vet yesterday she is 10 months old today! 70 lbs. I feed 2x per day but she doesn't touch her morning meal till midday...???
Don't let it bother you too much. They go through some strange eating habits around that age. I remember Drogon not eating until evening and then eating his entire daily allotment in one eating. It didn't last. One thing I did find that if I got him enough exercise early then he would eat in the morning.

EXACT same thing happened with Jax ( @Drogon ) at that age. He had ZERO interest in eating in the morning. He still eats a small meal in the morning, and the rest in the evening. That might change soon, because he is getting TONS of exercise lately...plus the weather is getting "cold," and he might just be hungrier with the cooler temps.

I know Derringer isn't a doberman but I thought I would put in his weight/height.

Birth:14oz
9 months 67lbs
11 months 59lbs 26 1/2" tall
changed dog food as we don't like that weight loss he has filled out more have to get him weighed again. He will be 1 on the 19th so I plan to have him weighed then. He is tall for a gsp. Have pics of him with a small pack of dobermans back in Sept. He was taller than 2 of the 4 same height as one of them.
