Doberman puppy owners - track your weight gain here

Callie's weigh in:

13wks - 26.6#'s
14wks - 28.0#'s
15wks - 33.2#'s
16wks - 39.0#'s (21.oin)
17wks - 40.4#'s (22.oin)
18wks - 44.5#'s (23.5in)
19wks - 46.5#'s (24.0in)

Callie has seemed to slow down in the growing department for the mean time.....I expect another growth spurt in both weight and height soon.:D She has a lot more coordination right now than she did a couple weeks ago...just about the time she gets the hang of things at this size her body will take off again and she'll be playing catch-up again.

Saava got weighed yesterday.... He was 6 months old on the 17th... so that makes him 6.5mo old now and he was 84.5 lbs on the scale yesterday! Oh yea.. he is a bruiser... so anyone who dislikes, disagrees with the BIG heavy Dobie puppies?

Keep it to yourself would ya? :censored:

I think those of us who have the larger pups have heard enough negativity and bashing with your opinions about how unhealthy, un doberman like and un attractive it is...

this information about Saava's growth is for the REST of us who do not judge and who also have big boned, big heavy Phenotype dobermans from where ever they come from...

Wow our summer babies have grown up fast!!!

That's the way we prefer to keep it and it is interesting to be able to see the growth patterns of all dogs, so that's exactly what this thread was intended to be - not a debate thread, which is why I move the other posts to their own thread for further discussion. :)

My Zuko is going to be a big boy like that too. Ive had the NA dobes that were on the smaller side (and there's nothing wrong with that they were great dogs)but I like the BIG BONED bruisers alot better. I think they looker better that way. so I'm with you lol

Thanx Justin... and Zuko is a handsome devil! so is Ozzy, My buddy, Nupe's Buddy, Judith's Bella and her Buddy and Bella's father and every other big boned beautiful Dobe, no matter where they are from! With so many Dobermans out there of all sizes and shapes and colors... truth is they are all beautiful because of the breed that they are! even the ugly ones' are beautiful, really... they may never be in a show ring, but they are Blue Ribbon holders to their owners! blind, deaf, dumb, one leg, ears cropped, uncropped, tail or no tails! the breed is an amazing breed! I love them all!

Dale: your male may be a 'big boned' male...
but so far I have not seen bone like Baba's bone.. his father is not overly done at all, is 95-100 lb male who is a many times over SchIII male who is 9 years old now... his mother is a normal sized 75+ female. Neither of his parents are over done. Leo does not throw oversized puppies and all are about the same out of the litter.. but Baba's bone is 1/2 times bigger than Gemma's and his feet are twice the size and we already know how large Gemma is.. she has leveled out at around 87-88 lbs when NOT in a false pregnancy (gains 7-9 lbs and gets up to 93-94 lbs then) but Baba's bone is super dense and massive. Its where the weight is....
which is why a Dane puppy who is taller than a mastiff puppy of the same age, but weighs much less...

Baba has truly what I would define as massive bone and perhaps he will mature out at 95-100 lbs but right now? He is dense and has width from side to side, but has uptuck clearly visible, broad across the front and rear, but I can count his last few ribs from the side and clearly feel all bones at hips and scapula and both My vets and others who have seen him in person agree he is NOT 'heavy' looking nor would you guess he was that heavy... I did not.. I was sure he was around 73-74 lbs...
not.... so bones is the only answer... if he were pudgy and portly? I would be the to admit I had a 'chubby kid'.. but he aint... nor was Gemma till she had her first heat and packed on the pounds...
So... all I can see, is the boy has "BIG BONES"... and will eventually grow into it all and probably be a normal size Euro at 95-100 lbs because of the bone structure.

Yet Matrix status and posture make him appear a much bigger boy!!! If people saw him in person they might be deceived into thinking he is a monster while he is just a solid tank that fits right in the standard. A very tight wrapped package.

I will also say that much of my foundation goes back to some of Judiths pedigree on the English side and I love the bone and substance and even though I have had some go over standard I have not intentionally bred them for that nor do I promote it. My girsl are 25 1/2 to 26 3/4 inces and weigh in between 67 and 74 lbs.

Gunner is 27 1/2 inches tall and he weighs 88 lbs - He works better at 85 and I struggle to keep him in his fighting weight as he as gotten older. Shrock is 28 inches and 85 lbs. Mostly muscle.

There is a tool called a Whicket - for measuring but it is rather pricey so I take a yard stick and a L square or right angle tool what ever they call it . Place the yard stick on the ground starting at 1 inch and then ascend up. Place the L on the yard stick with the arm out towards the dog. Then slide it over to the whithers of the dog Where the bottom of the arm touches the yard stick should be your correct height. That was probably clear as mud - I can see it just not as good at describing it.
