is that the foam in his ears? I have heard of this method, I think it was on a Great Dane site I saw it, but I have never seen it, does it work well?
He is so adorable!
And wow @ Albert, he is gaining about 3 lbs a week! He is gonna be a big boy!

"is that the foam in his ears?"

Yes it is, it is actually held in by surgical dermabond that will come loose in about a week. It is easier than taping and lets the ear breath. Learned this from The World Of Doberman Pinschers book by Anna Katherine Nicholas.

Athena is looking like she should.. she is small for a Doberman, but she is not unhealthy looking at all! She looks really robust and nicely filled out. She is just going to be a 50-55 lb gal... which is absolutely normal size for a North American bred dobie.... she looks super sleepy here! :D

Aww, what a cute pic of Athena...

And holy holy, Saava is really gaining it fast... :glasses: LOL

Jan: he and albert are right on track at the same weight gain, but Saava is just heavier bone and a bigger frame...
He is larger at this age then Gemma was, but he is to be expected as such as a male... He's gonna be around 100lbs I believe at adult hood. :D which is right on track for an average Euro Male from this lineage.. :)

Saava Baba's 4 mo old foot.... I have large hands for a woman and my hand is 4" wide by 3.5" tall.... thats how big his feet and bones are at 4 months old! monster feet! and him in front of my 12 yr old mutt "Shorty" who weighs 55 lbs...
the boy is a behemoth... baby bah 4mo old monster foot.webpbaba 4mo and shorty.webp

Wow, he's no doubt a big boy. Just last night Hubby was saying that Albert's feet don't look quite as huge now as he's growing, but they're still bigger than Della's are as an adult. LOL
Your other dog is cute too!

River
10 weeks - 14 lbs even
11 weeks - 14.8 lbs

We're having some trouble getting her to eat much. I give her plenty of time and try to keep activity in the house to a minimum so she can focus. Suzan suggested wetting her food so we'll be trying that. A friend of mine suggested mixing in wet food so I tried that and it seemed to work. I ordered a case because if nothing else she could use the extra calories from it.

Jess: a great secret to get your puppy to eat their food... chicken or beef broth mixed with some 'food yeast" and a tsp of bacon grease....
Chicken or beef broth heated up, add 3 tblsp's of food yeast aka Nutritional yeast (health food stores) and bacon grease,
( I make myself some bacon and eggs one morning now and again and I save the bacon grease in a cup in the fridge)
add the bacon grease, about a teaspoon is good to the warmed up broth and the food yeast and then put about 1/4 up on your puppy's food each time.
If you make it by the quart ahead of time and have it also in the fridge you can just pour some in a coffee cup and warm it up in the microwave and then pour it on their food.
Not sure what you are feeding them, but this stuff is like liquid gold to puppies. I also recommend giving her some goats milk in the morning's and some dessicated liver tablets (they love these too) and it boosts their appetite. I give the dessicated liver tablets by themselves as a 'treat'... and both Gemma Saava eat them like candy. I give Gemma about 8 a day and Saava about 6.... River could have 3-4 a day...
anything that makes their food smell tastier and also boosts the nutritional value like chicken or beef broth and nutritional yeast and an egg and or bacon grease, goats milk! Goats milk is like mothers milk and or better and totally digestible and totally nutrient dense.... its pricey unless you have goats around you somewhere and you can get it fresh! that is the best.. but canned or just in a carton is great too. 1/2 cup a day is awesome for them!

Nonnie at 7 weeks old when I brought her home weighing in at 11.6 lbs. Was told she was one of the biggest. We got weekly updates from 3 weeks (when we placed our deposit) until 7 weeks, when we picked her up, she was gaining 2 lbs a week. She is still gaining at about that rate.

Nonnie at about 5.5 months weighing in at about 45 lbs! She is in about the same spot in the pic as she is in the above one. :)

We mix wet and dry also, seems to work well, when he gets distracted I move him and his bowl into his crate and let him finish, he always eats all his food that way.
