Crop Pics - Lets see your style!

Well you know it's hard for most vets to do the ears exactly like a picture you bring in! It's really quite an art form to itself lol I call it weird science! It is also a beauty is in the eye of the beholder too! Some like em short some long some wide some narrow geez we are a hard breed to please but the dobers are happy either way;)Archers ears look great to me he's gorgeous:cool:
Thanks! I agree completely. As long as he's happy and not disfigured or in pain I am both happy and proud. I did want a bit less bell than she left, but all in all she did a tremendous job. It's weird how you get an idea in your head of how they "should" look when completed. I'm over that now :)

I just picked up a male puppy and I'm getting his ears cropped short/ pet/military style. Is it hard to tape them when the crop is shorter? How long does it take to stand with shorter crop and how often do I change the tape?

Thanks

Costa - I responded to this in your intro thread. I hope you will give it careful consideration. Each crop was designed mostly for specific breeds and the military crop was not designed for the Doberman. We are here and will help you with posting and it will be worth it to at least get a medium crop. It much better suits the Doberman head. I hope you will consider changing.

the first two photos were taken when he was about 8.5 months old & his ears look long

This last photo was taken at 12 months old & his head seems to have grown a little larger, so the ears look smaller than they did on earlier photos.
The growth of the skull should always be taken into consideration when cropping.
A crop that looks really long as a puppy will not look so long when the dog grows up.

Hey, where are the 1st two pics??

This is Tabu at 16 weeks. I stated that I didn't want a short crop, while I also didn't want crazy tall ears and so the vet came up with this. When they were 1st cropped I admit I was worried that I wouldn't particularly like them, but now that he is growing bigger by the day, his ears are really starting to suit his face, head and the rest of his body in size. I like this crop now. He is always smiling and growing to be very handsome, that's my boy. .

I guess it's about time I get a couple of Albert posted since he's already 16 months. I still need to find a good front shot, but these should give a pretty good idea of the shape. This is a very long crop and they take a long time to finish up. He still gets breathe rights in his left ear since it will tend to want to flip a little bit when he's running or super alert.

Front shot. I'll replace this one when I find or take a better one since it's not the greatest.
