Crop Pics - Lets see your style!

good lord... igor is a beast! i like both crops as well, never know, her head may grow into it fine... Karmas and Fates ears looked HUGE when they were pups... Fate has way to much bell, but now at 2 she is finally learning to hold them so they look pretty good still.

where are you omel? got some serious tropics going on behind you, haha never mind, i figured it out... i was gonna say either the phillipines or south america.

Hrd2gt is also right that she could grow into them... she has a long ways to go and she may just need more time to grow into them than another larger headed dog like Igor.. who is a beast! :)
she may just be a goofy teenager and those ears just make her look goofy now... She is has a lovely profile and the tips of the ears sway back gracefully which I prefer them to do than to stand like a 'knifes' edge'... I dislike like "Knife" look on an ear more than anything.

Question about cropped ears. I just had my dogs ears cropped and when I picked him up from the vet he just had his head in the E-collar, but his ears were not taped. This is a first for me, out of 6 dobermans. They said to wait ten days for the ears to dry up then start taping them. I also read online it's not good to tape until after the stitches are removed. Has anyone else followed a similar procedure, because all my dogs ears have been wrapped or tapped up after surgery? Thanks!

procedure is correct...wait 10-12 days for the ears to be 100% healed and then begin posting.
Some vets use surgical glue to stick fresh cropped ears on a cone (or piece of sponge) over the pups ears, making sure to leave the cropped edge open.
This is supposed to shorten the taping period but not in my opinion...best is to wait 10-12 days as your vet suggested then post them.

Mysti had her ears done when we got her, and all I had to do is post them, which took I think another 8 weeks to stand. She had a pet crop, which I liked on her, she looked very good.

Nexus and Bella both had their ears done at the same vet and I am real happy with his work. We didnt have too many choices as there were not many vets around here that do cropping, and he also does the after care and taping as well. He did a great job at estimating which length to make them and they are the perfect size for Nexus, and I am sure Bella will grow into hers as well, even though right now she looks like she has pretty big ears.

Bella:
Taken 4 weeks after crop, still a little weak, but she got an infection and we had to unwrap them, and medicate her, and using the breathe-rite strips.

taken about 5 days later, standing a little better, but still not quite ready, we will probably repost once the infection is completely cleared up.

This is Nonnie at 5.5 months, taken today. She had her ears done at 7.5 weeks, with laser and they were only taped and posted for 10 days. My vet only does one cut and I'm happy with the way they've turned out. She's a bit stubborn and won't look straight at the camera, so I tried again inside and it's not a great picture, but you get the point. :)

Here are 2 more. The first one where her ears were taped the day she had her ears done. The second one was 10 days later. I've never had to re-post them since. We live out in the middle of nowhere with lots of dry/tall grass, call cheat grass, and the only thing that makes her ears lay down is when she has a piece of grass down in her ear, then I take her to the vet, get it taken out and her ears perk right back up!

Joker - Just wanted to say that prong looks really loose and low on the neck. How old is the pup in the photo? Its generally not suggested that you put a prong on them till 6 months or later.

Just thought I'd throw a couple pics of Dylan on here, since the last post is relatively recent. Barrie Hoytt kind of has his own style. I like it personally, but it's not what you'd see in the show ring typically.

Still posted when we got him, around 7 months or so. He had one ear that was just being stubborn. We now know why. He sleeps hard on it, every single time he goes to sleep! It's still not perfect, but we're okay with it.

Just out of posts, about two weeks later. You can still see all the adhesive.

One of my favorite photos ever!

Kind of a side/back view...

This is how they look most of the time.

Sometimes, if he's super alert, or turned on to a stranger in the street or something, he pulls that right ear up perfectly. But most of the time, because he sleeps on it so much, it stays "lazy". I fought it for a long time. But he hated being posted, and I figured as long as it wasn't a true crop n flop, I could live with it.
