An adoption journey....

Sooooo cute. Is she interested in posting her own updates here? Maybe a bit of a village can help reassure her about posting those ears that gosh darnit wanna stand on their own ;) You are right, the cropping was already done and he went through all that trouble and risk to not be posted would be a shame. At the end of the day, her posting them has no effect on the great care she will provide. Its a shame the rescue has guilt tripped her into not posting them.

I see he found his bed quick, you know the one with the comfy yellow comforter. :D

What a lovely puppy fest! He looks like nothing much fazes him so far with all the changes and strange people, and he will be a biggun when he grows into those paws. Those ears do so much want to stand so I agree with all the above comments even though it isn't legal in Australia. Well, he will be just as good a dog either way so I guess it isn't the end of the world if they are his own unique crazy ears, just frustrating to see that they possibly COULD stand if posted.

I want them posted, Jems and Alex don’t! :( I really really think they are doing those ears a disservice.
Tell em this Yank across the pond hopes they post!
But absolutely respects whatever they do. He’s a really good looking boy.

The look on your daughters face is priceless.
I have to say I’ve seen more of my own daughter this week since our new journey.
These memories will be priceless one day.

My good friend Natalie, who does all the Dobie home visits & Dobie walks is experienced in posting ears :thumbsup2: When we first spoke about posting, pre Titan she offered to help Jems Post a few times for her to get the grip of it. I hope to contact Natalie soon and see if she can sway her, too.

We decided to let the dogs meet at our local field (not secure) so decided to harness both and put them on retractable leads for easy movement. Not a lover of the leads BUT they can work in an open environment like this.
Jemma’s going to invest in a long line (Tara already has one) :)

He is such a handsome dude!!! Playful and happy!

It's your daughter's choice in the end, but I have never seen a flopped ear want to stand so bad!! Usually they are more "broken/creased over" and look dismally hopeless. But to see the bell area standing so strong gives me so much hope for a successful, erect ear! Its begging to be taped! :D

Looks like the meeting went well? He's such a cutie! I think I need to jump on the posting bandwagon, too...

The meeting went well. She told him off just the once! We’re going back up this afternoon for another meet :thumbsup2:

Forgot to say earlier, Titan slept in his crate last night from 10-2 went out for a wee and then straight back in from 2-6.
He needs ALOT of direction on toilet training. He’s had a few accidents in the house but it’ll all get sorted. The rescue probably didn’t have any kind of toilet training in place. I heard them outside last night squealing with delight that he went pee in the garden. Plenty of praise :woot: Oh, and he :poop: in the garden this afternoon, too.

Tonight we’ll get him weighed. Interested in seeing what he weighs.

Oh this did my heart good! Such an amazing ---end to one journey and beginning of a new journey--- for Titian and all of you!!

I have to admit I had a good "I get that chuckle" about your trying to let your daughter do it her way with the posting. When our daughter got her first dobe as an adult....my husband took up the habit of stepping on my foot...the first time I was like
"WTH.you stepped on me!!"
He leaned into me said
"I am trying to see if you have an off switch...it's her dog, her job ,she has to do this her way so hush you!" And he mashed down a bit harder on my foot. There isn't an off switch for that stuff:facepalm::laughing: but my husband did figure out stepping on my foot was at least a mute button:laughing:

I understand exactly what you were talking about!!! And OH!OH!!OH!!! I am feelin for ya!!

I love his lumbering, playful, and bouncy
attempt to get Tara’s attention.
At first I thought he was going to take the ball to Tara.

Those ears are screaming at me... give me some posts that look like horns. Bet he won’t even need a brace in between.

He is precious and looks like he is going to be big.

I had forgotten about this situation, so I just binged the last 5pages.

How exciting is this!! Gotta love the puppy goofyness!

I have seen a lot of beautiful flop ears Dobermans that have completely changed my mind of Dobermans must be cropped. But if a pup goes through the sx, then it needs to post. Just not right to flop a crop.

:spit: Tara wasn't too interested in Titan was she? But good that she seems pretty easy about it all. He is going to be a handful I reckon with his confidence and curiosity and I loved the pee party in the garden!

Sorry to harp about ear posting but I was wondering why it was so important to the rescue organisation that the ears are not posted even though the surgery is already done. It could just be that they don't want those erect ears to look good enough to make others want the same for their dog. I'm not bagging the rescue people who do such a good job, but it is most likely a policy they have for reasons other than one individual dog, so it really is the Gemma's choice and personal preference that should make this decision, no matter what other pressures there are. :) But it's so hard to butt out! :bag:

Aww he's settling in so nicely and the new parents look so happy! I really do wish they'd join here to be a part of the community, whether they decide to post (the ears) or not.

Yes, we noticed that with her when we mixed her in with other dobies on walks. She’ll go say ‘Hi!’ but generally she just ignores them.
