Doberman puppy owners - track your weight gain here

Jax was down two pounds today (86), which I am fine with. We've been doing more physical exercise, so it makes sense. I actually upped his food a bit about a week ago, so I think we will stay with what we are doing and just monitor to make sure he still "looks" the right weight.

So I asked the breeder how big Nero's sire is and he's 28" and about 80lbs. His dam looks to be close to that too in the one pic I have of the two of them. (She has a very NA head though.) At 25" and 56lbs at 6m do you think Nero will end up close to his sire? He hasnt tried marking anything yet so I'm either lucky or his hormones havent kicked in yet.

I don't want to say this and jinx myself, but I'll knock on wood right after!!...Jax is just a few days over 15 months, and he has never marked anything. (He also still squats to pee about 80% of the time...I don't know if that has any relevance or not regarding marking behavior...I mean I guess if he felt the need to mark inside, he'd go ahead and do it regardless of his peeing posture!...but I sure do feel lucky...)
Maybe he's just a "late bloomer," and I'm going to be eating my words and buying Nature's Miracle soon, but fingers crossed!

You are so lucky Jax is such a good boy. My little devil has tested my patience multiple times with marking and I am NOT going to have it. Knock on wood...it has been several weeks since his last misdemeanor with marking. Lol

8.5 weeks 11lbs
9.5 weeks 14.4 lbs (first vet visit, and treatment for coccidia)
10 weeks - 16 lbs
11 weeks - 19 lbs
12 weeks - 22 lbs (coccidia clear) - 15 3/4" tall.
13 weeks - 24 lbs - 17" tall.
14 weeks - 28 lbs - 17 1/4" tall
15 weeks - 30 lbs - 18 3/4" tall (could be 19, measurer fail, lol)
16 weeks - 32.5 lbs - 19" tall
17 weeks (3 days she'll be 4 calendar months) - 34.5 lbs - 20 1/4" tall
19 weeks - 38 lbs - 21" at shoulders.
20 weeks - 49 lbs (going by vet's scale/weight, which is why the extra odd jump) 21.5"
21 weeks - 53 lbs - 22"
22 weeks (5 calendar months on Saturday) - 51 lbs - 22.5" at shoulders. Chest: 26.5" Length from neck to base of tail: 22"
6 months (as of the 19th of Dec) - 48.8 lbs - 24" tall - 23.5" long - Chest 28"

Been a while since I updated her weights. Hadn't had time. She keeps getting tummy aches from various sources so I wasn't bothering since she'd go down, down, down, then up, up, then down. I didn't have a proper way to weigh her either. I think she had another tummy ache (loves to find plants I've overlooked - oy) this morning so her weight really hasn't changed much. My brother recently purchased a scale for up to 600 lbs (was in the hospital for a few weeks recently, and now needs to monitor any weight changes) so I get to use it. :) He likes it too because he's fascinated with how much she changes. It's much larger than a normal scale. Like two or three feet across almost. And the voice TELLS me what the weight is so I don't have to bend over to see.

I don't mind them marking outside but in the house isn't acceptable. Albert started marking our appliances when he was 7 or 8 months old and that was a big :nono: .
You should see the big pissing match (marking) outside when they get together with Atticus and Demelza and the girls mark every bit as much as the boys. :D

I would probably say close and that's a good size and within the breed standards.
Been a while since I updated her weights.
Such a pretty girl!

She is much wider than Nero!

My girl is 25lbs and 20" at the withers. Her parents are 80-100lbs. I feed her 6 cups a day but she is finicky and maybe will eat about 3.5-4 cups. Any thoughts on her weight as it seems below the average of the fellow members here and any suggestions on getting her to eat more? Thanks!

How old is she? Mila was severely underweight when I got her. I just let her eat freely, but even now, she doesn't eat as much as she "should" according to charts. Much less.

Isn't his chest same? I know he's got an inch on height and a few lbs on her.
Yeah the chest is (i assume you mean the heartgirth? Not from side to side?) but hes got 2 inches in height (today is 25.5...finally got him to stand still and upright), is longer, and almost 10lbs more. I wonder if the girls mature faster in dogs, just like people?

Weight gain has definitely slowed though. People still tell me he has gigantic paws. Like omg look at those paws. He's going to be a big boy! Have you looked at the rest of the dog? He's 6 months old and bigger than a lab... lol

Females for sure mature quicker than males, you are right about that. @NikiL02

That happened with Jax forever...I'd be like, "Hello, can you not see the rest of his body?...He's a fairly big boy all around." But...I kind of understand because I love dog paws, and since Dobes' paws are a little different, they might look even bigger to people....??? (no clue how to describe what I mean, but I swear it makes sense!!! HA!...to me!)
