Doberman puppy owners - track your weight gain here

thanks for the compliment on Apollo, but we have two problems, first we don't have a scale here and seconds, i can't lift Apollo anymore LOl :)

Trojan weekly weigh-in.. 65.3 lbs, that's 3.3 from last week.... I think he might be slowing down, finally.... I'll know over the next two weeks... He was putting on 6-7lbs a week there fro awhile... whew....

Zulu
9 weeks 15.9 lbs
10 months old putting on a pound every 10 days and he is 69 lbs as of this morning. He has finally a little bit of fat on him and is filling out and strong as A BULL. I think I may walk him a tad too much but he loves it

Sheesh So cal, that's still huge for his age...

Wow Burly, Zulu is really going to bulk up if he's still growing at that rate, at that age... Cool!

Della 9/2/09 - 196 days old... :D Okay 28 weeks... ;) Okay 6 1/2 months hrd...
Grandma.jpg

51.5#

8-21 Fate was 53...
9-1 she is 56... talk about serious slow down huh... thats what... 10ish days

aww guys... what we gonna do... the puppies are finally getting to be full grown...

Ahh these DeLa pups have ALOT of growing left in them. Are they fixed? Zulu had a dry spell of 6 weeks where he not only didnt gain he even dropped a couple pounds!! But then all of sudden big back muscles started showing and before you know it 9 lbs is on. 1.5 in the last week to 10 days. He gets around a pound of ground meat twice a day with Orijen sprinkled on top. plus supplements etc

BURLY! dont say that!! Fate is already 6 1/2 months old and already 55 lbs. LOL.. karma is only 62 and a lil over 2 years. I think karma is done... she turned out beautiful as far as I am concerned.

yeah the dela pups look like they should be a bit bigger than Karma. I saw a beautiful 60 lb retired show dobe female yesterday. 8 years old but it could have been 8 months. Incredible! I hear the smaller dobes have less health problems. Is that true? what says the dcf about that??

i know it isn't bad, but i can see, he lost to much weight, the rips sticking out and his waist its much smaller now and i could tell, because is harness is much to loose, had to make it tighter again :(, but he will be back to his regular weight, in no time :)

I am sure he will be back to his regular weight in no time!! Did the Vet seem concerned about his weight at all??

guess not, since she didn't weighted him in a very long time and it was the vet tech who did, when the vet already had left, but i can see he lost weight, but he will be back in no time, he started eating the kibbles on his own again, so guess he is trying to make up now, for the 4 days, he didn't ate ;)

ummmmmmmmmmmmm do we need a weather thread???

Fate is STILL 55lbs... talk about a growth slow down. She hasta have a lot more growing to do tho. her head is no where near the size of Karmas... and her daddy has a huge head, lol

Fate is still bigger than Della, although I haven't weighed her this week yet. I'm honestly hoping she stays on the smallish side (maybe 60#) since we already have Boris the moose... LOL!

ummmmmmmmmmmmm do we need a weather thread???
Yup, I moved them. :)

LOL Jan... i was reading about Apollo then my thread thing came up... and i was like i could swear i wrote it right under it... and not apollo... LOL.. then i saw your post. thought i was going crazy.

Karma is 62, i think she is a perfect size. I still think Fate is gonna be a lil bigger... but man, talk about needing to do some serious growing...so... hrmmm maybe maybe not??

LOL! I knew they got scrambled when I moved them, but wanted to keep this one semi cleaned up so it's easier to keep track of...

I think they still have quite a bit of growing to do, but it will probably just be at a slower pace now that they're over 6 months. I was just comparing Boris' notes again the other day and he really didn't weigh that much more than Della at this point, but he gradually kept growing til he hit 88#. I know males grow longer than females, but I think they still have at least 6 months to go.

It seemed like Fire slowed down at about 7-8 months too. I waited & waited for her to get the same size as Hooter (he's small to me. 67 lbs. I measured him today...almost 25" at the shouder). When she caught him I stopped watching Fire to see how much she was growing. A few weeks later my dad commented on how much bigger she was all of a sudden. Sure enough, she had passed Hooter right up! She is just about 27" at the shoulder & I'd say she weighs about 75 lbs. based on a recent vet visit.
Emmie lost weight after her spay , she picked at food for a few days. She was 51 pounds ladt weigh in & is about 24" at the shoulder. She is MUCH more petite & finely built than Fire, Emms is all long legs & neck!! I am sure she has a bunch of growing to do, her head is a LOT smaller than even Hooters. Her hips too.

BTW- did someone ask if smaller Dobes were healthier? I don't know. Prolly less heart issues & hip issues...but my 125 lb. gal lived to 14 without any major illness along her life (until the end, cancer). My reg size red girl had a stroke & was PTS unknown age since she was a rescue...but they think 11 or so (we had her 9 years), and our petite female was PTS at age 11 with cancer & pneumonia. :(
So- *I* have had better luck with the big dog. Then again Hope was huge compared to Fire....and that poor baby didn't last but 7 months, so....

yesterday in the dogpark was a 4 year old female, she was so much smaller then Apollo :o,they couldn't believe, that he is just 7 month old, if Apollo comes after his dad and grandpa, oh well, then he has some more grewing to do,because his grandpa was 90lbs and his dad wasn't much smaller, LOL, we tried to messure him the other day,i think he is around 27.5
