Boy, I can't believe that this thread is a year old! I remember reading it and wanted to respond to it! Where does time go??
Anyway, I give Annie Heartgard Plus and Pet Armor Plus topical for the fleas and ticks. These were recommended by my horse vet. He told me that the chewables for the ticks, (Next Guard I believe?) were creating seizures. I had heard that before too so when he reiterated it, I was all for the topical. He said he's never heard of a problem with that. No problems with either one but I always give them to her a week or so apart.
I guess Wondercide hasn't been mentioned but it is supposed to be effective for fleas and ticks too
Yes if I would have responded last year I would have added that to my post too because I use that a lot!

I spray it on Annie, myself and some that I spray around the property. I've sprayed it in my horse stalls too.
A few days ago I had some ants in my breakfast room. I hardly ever have ants so I was kind of freaking out like, what the hell are these things doing here!! LOL They were right along the baseboard and I kept vacuuming him up. And then I was thinking, what is it that I've read about a natural way of getting rid of ants? And then I'm like, duh, I have Wondercide! I sprayed the area and they were gone! Mine are mainly peppermint scented and I think it smells great! I think the one for outdoors is a cedar smell and again, not a bad smell at all.

So far we've only seen three ticks. One my husband saw on Annie when they were out in the barn. It was just walking across her back. Hopefully trying to find its way off! LOL but my husband saw it, took it off and split it in four different pieces. LOL He always makes sure they're deader than dead.

Then one day he had one crawling on himself. And then it finally got to me. I came in the house and was getting dinner ready and I kept feeling something on the back of my neck. My hair was up, like it always is when it's hot out and I kept feeling back there thinking it might be a straight hair or something. When my husband came in I said, take a look at my neck, is there something there? And he says yep. When he showed me it was so stinking small then neither one of us knew what it was. I thought it was one of those minute red spiders. I don't know what they are but I've seen these tiny things before so I dismissed it and walked away. He said, get me the magnifying glass. He said, yep it's a baby tick! I'm like

What??? Honestly we both had to look at it through the small zoomed in area of a magnifying glass because it was so small.. Sure enough, it was a tick. But I couldn't believe how small it was. I didn't think it was really a baby tick. I thought it was a deer tick. But then somebody else told me it could have just been a baby tick.
So I was itching and freaking for the next half hour.

Ick Ick Ick!!!! I cannot stand those things I just cannot stand them. They drive me freaking nuts. They make me feel itchy, they look disgusting and I just hate them!

At least none of them were embedded! That freaks me out even worse!
