Trying not to get too excited.

Can't wait to see the new addition!!! Are you hoping for another red devil :)
That would be fun, but I'm not dead set on color. I want cropped/docked and healthy with a confident personality.
Black, red, even blue. I hadn't ever considered a fawn, and it's not likely to be an option but I would definitely consider one.
IMHO Getting another Dobe honors Daisy. I figure if I had any breed dog and that dog turned out to be 'not the right dog' then I might consider a different breed next time. - Hope that makes sense. Getting another dog of the same breed means (to me) that dog showed you the best in the breed - enough to make you want another.
I don't know if it made sense to anyone else but it did to me, and thank you.

@Viemarangelrock
I know you're hurting now, so much.
You need to know, Kobi helped me come to that conclusion.
Watching him grow, and how darned similar he was to Rocky, looks, actions, being "the barky one" :D yet they were years apart and half a world away.
It put a perspective in view I hadn't totally seen before.

Now I feel I have to get another. It's taken some time to get here.
Its exciting and somewhat frightening.

As much as it hurts, going forward, i have taken and learnt so much from him.

He had a special energy, a cheeky side that I've never really experienced in my other 2 boys. He taught me so much and for that I will always be truly thankful.

It warms my heart to know that you've taken something truly special, perspective wise from my boy. I understand, I truly do.

We are currently going through that very difficult stage of coming home to an empty house :( For how long I can stand this? I really don't know.

My heart will never truly mend. The last few days I have gone through a whole mix of emotions from anger to guilt. When life sometimes feels chaotic we look to our dogs for strength and support. My source has left me and it's been hard, really hard to cope with his sudden passing.

Our time will come when we open our hearts and home to another dobe. It may be weeks, it may be months. It may be even longer...

We mustn't think of a new dobe as a "replacement" for our previous dobe. We don't replace relationships; we build new ones. A new companion with whom we build an entirely new set of memories and experiences.

It takes strength to take the steps you've taken and knowing that my boy has helped you in your process gives me warmth and some much needed comfort.

I look forward to being with you and experiencing the special journey ahead of you through DCF.

When we lost Max it was hard but more expected as he lived till 11..almost 12 years old which is great for a Doberman and it didn't take long before I realized that I had to have another. As someone told me once the new pups will never fill the other dogs shoes ..but he will fill his own shoes..lol I never think of the new pup as a replacement because each of them are unique and special in their own way but for sure a new life brings joy and fills the void that's left when you lose a dog.
.
Losing Flynn was a lot harder and more tragic..He was so young and like your Kobi just to soon but that is the reality of life sometimes..darn it can't be helped but we don't have to like it. The health issues with Dobermans really made me take a step back on this one and we went through perhaps getting another breed or just not getting another puppy at all.. When all is said and done we realized there just is no other breed for us so we are going to move on. Take the bitter with the sweet and find a new puppy. :) OH and of course it will be a Dobie ..:)

I didn't know whether to hit appreciation or agree here because it's all so true. It hit us hard with both Max and Flynn since they've been part of this family for a long time too. Flynn, like Kobi, Miesha, Daisy and a few others were way too young but the short time they were with you/us was a blessing and took a big part of our hearts. I think there are risks with any breed so this wonderful breed will always be my choice.

I’m told a male has been selected!!!
She won’t come into heat for another 4 months or so.
She’s going for her BH next week!
(Patiently) awaiting pics of the male and any other info.
Edit...
The male is from Spain, is almost 9 years old and all his health checks out perfect. :)

Congratulations on this step!

Is it artificial insemination? Or is the sire imported from Spain but living closer?

:wow:I’m ecstatic to hear this news, Gel! Fingers crossed that the semen test show quality results and that he’s fertile enough to produce a litter. I can’t wait to see pics of him. A Spanish stud I’m sure :thumbsup2:
