Soluna Dobermans

I'd take them to the same vet that did Ripleys bc I love her ears but we want someone that doesn't fixing any tails should they need fixed at the time of crop so we have an appt with Dr. Midgarden. She's only two hours away from me too so that'll be nice.
I really love Dr. Midgarden’s crops, but I’m biased because she did Remy’s! She also fixed his tail. I think Andria said it was something to do with how it healed/scabbed.

She does a really nice job! We just have to customize it and ask for no bell 😉 (just like Remy's)

Really, did Midgarden do the whole litter? I thought Dr Joel did Phoebe's.

Remy isnt from Phoebe's litter? Remy is one of Andria's and by Selleck.
I think Jan misread your comment about wanting to take them to the same vet that did Ripley’s.

You are correct, I misread that as Ripley... :bag:

Good point since Joel doesn't like doing tails and even after fixing Olive's a little, it's way longer than my taste.

"Ink"...what a fabulous name! And handsom....CONGRATS!!!!!! Can't wait for photos, and updates to you new adventure!!!!

And... I've gotta ask! --- will it be an A litter or a theme litter? Will you name the puppies or will you let the new owners do that, but within the limits of the letter or theme? Just curious, :D

I'll have a litter theme for litter call names but I don't even know on a theme for registered names. I don't really want to enforce names to be honest, I always find that awkward when someone is buying the dog that they get to live with. I feel like they should be able to call it what they want. May have a theme for the owners to follow though as long as it ties in to a loose theme and call name/registered name are related, can name whatever they want. Any co-owns for show I think we will be a little more picky about with the registered name and call name. Don't want something silly out there with my kennel name on it 😂

I'm welcoming ideas! Some friends said the litter call names need to be names of the crew members in the movie Alien(s) since that is where Ripley got her name from. She was named after the bada** female lead, Ellen Ripley. I like the names too, pretty unique! Obviously these are just for ID purposes (better than green collar boy) and most likely will be replaced when they go home but sometimes people choose to keep them too.

Crew from Alien
Dallas
Kane
Lambert (girl)
Ash
Parker
Brett
Might need to use first names too and toss an Ellen in there for some more girls 😆

Crew from Aliens
Vasquez (girl)
Ferro (girl)
Dietrich (girl)
Newt (girl)
Bishop
Crowe
Hudson
Hicks
Frost
Apone
Drake
Spunkmeyer
Gorman

Interestingly enough, my husband said that Drake and Vasquez are a must because the books reference those characters as being "dobermans at play" 👀

I made that mistake with Remy lol. I didn’t realize I would be able to pick his registered name, so it has nothing to do with his call name. (Another call name I sort of liked would have matched perfect.) Part of me also feels like it’s a silly registered name for when he does actually do sports or show. That wasn’t my original intention with him though, so I can’t be mad about it.

Hey! Remy was green collar boy! 🤣

I agree and our breeder has been that way too, as you know.

You can change it!!
I thought about it, but honestly I’m not even sure what I would pick (especially one that goes with his call name.) At least it’s probably not the worst registered name ever 😂
You can change it as long as you haven't won any ribbons in conformation or Qs in sports.
So far he only has one very impressive trick dog title 😉

It's interesting the way breeders do things now regarding the names - not for better or worse, just that it's different! Use to be A B C etc and as long as you registered your pup with a word starting with the letter that the breeder asked you to, that was it. I was thinking about names for my puppy for a year before I found her, then the breeder said she named them, but of course I could call her whatever I wanted. But the papers were set in stone, each name assigned to each puppy and delivered as such. At first I was pretty disappointed, but after researching the name and story, I came up with Asha for her call name, which of course was never on my list of possible names. Kinda like Ripley was suppose to be a boy puppy, but now look at you! Your initial disappointment is now a newfound dream!

Most of our dogs breeders let us pick the dogs registered name, as long as it had the breeders name in it.

Ragnar's breeder did not like the name at all but then she did not understand the significance of the name. She tried and tried to get me to change but in the end was cool and relented. The name truly matched him.

Melissa, as you know, is very open and did not object. She just asked why Freyja and I told her it was to match our Viking theme with Ragnar.

Hell, we had an extremely fun time naming the 11 new chicks we just acquired. I think it would be so exciting to name a litter of Dobermans!!! It would be something that would consume me till the end.

I think a lot of breeders shy from the alphabet because then it sort of keeps track of how many litters you have and let's everyone know if you have a lot... I guess people relate it to commercial euro breeders.

I didn't get to pick Stavros name but then again he is a co-own situation. I did get to come up with his registered name with her and ultimately I was the one that came up with it. It was challenging picking a registered name 2nd with the call name decided.

Ripley was supposed to be Rocket and Melrae's Go For Launch. Hubby wanted to keep the space theme and when Ripley was mistaken for a boy then we discovered there were no black boys, well that's why her registered name is that. I really liked the name Ripley and after a strong female. So they aren't super related besides being space/scifi but whatever 😂

Revel's name is related to his registered name and I got to pick both. Our kennel name was added on since we purchased him and planned for him to be a future stud... well that fell through lol!

I would love to hear your names, after hearing the chicken names!😂

Ripley was confirmed pregnant via ultrasound yesterday! Puppies are healthy sized and we saw heartbeats  Here are two of the puppies!

She's 32 days in yesterday, half way there! They really don't start showing until 4 weeks in, more so 40 days from what I've read. But we definitely saw changes to indicate she was pregnant before the ultrasound.

Belly bump last Thurs before the 4 week mark. (note the appearance of her nipples)

Compared to her nipples yesterday! They started to enlarge even more than her typical post heat size they get and they are really dark in color.

She's been doing a lot of resting. Hard for her to get comfortable and curl up anymore so its not uncommon to see her laying around like this when prior it wasn't very common.

She decided to strike a pose for me yesterday so I was able to get a decent shot of her for comparison as we go...
