Puppy bm

Still at one semi loose stool a day. I ordered some hnatures farmacy geller, which arrives today. I am hoping that clears her up as she’s normal in all other aspects.
Makes me wonder if she has ibs at this point. Called the vet they aren’t worried due to heat ending which clearly causes her gi issues.
Going to bland diet today as well and looking to start a kibble for sensitive bellies moving forward.

Any other thoughts? Advice?

Thank you all, as always.
Glad she's normal in all other aspects. The geller sounds like it is at least worth a try. If the vet mentioned heat ending then we all could possibly be barking up the right tree.

I know nothing about IBS in dogs but I have been close to some people in my life who had it, and a common complaint on the human side was alternating bouts of diarrhea but also just as severe constipation in between, I dont know if you're noticing that at all? Disclaimer: I'm no Dr. Of anything, so i can just share my experiences and have no idea if IBS looks the same in dogs as it does humans, or even if symptoms are the same for every human who suffers from it.

Edit to say: You sure are trying hard at it, and that's respectable! I would feel extra frustrated if I were trying so hard and hadn't tackled it yet. Keep up the trying!

I sure hope so it’s been going on for a few weeks. It’s just such a bummer to have this going on every few months.

No constipation for her and you’re right ibs in dogs causes constipation as well.

Although I read today ibs is rare in dogs, but ibd is more common.

Praying for some normal bms tomorrow.

How is your crew doing? I hope things cleared up!

Doing good in every regard except bald spots on Z. Of course, this is also happening with her cycle, which just confuses everything. Allergy? Hormonal? Allergy triggered by Hormonal? Time will tell, I suppose. The vet suggested a fish based food (in this case Salmon grain free). She looked at the ingredient panel and guaranteed analysis over the weekend after her last appointment and ok'd it provided i give her 1000mg of Taurine per day. So we do that. The vet also said not to get frustrated too quickly, it can, and often does, take 6 to 8 weeks after any diet change to see results of the change. Fingers crossed. At least in our case, the bald spots dont seem to bother her, but still, I feel like something has to be off balance to display like this, even if it's no bother to her on her skin.

Duchess left this morning and everyone is very calm and resting well tonight after a week of full throttle.

Aw I’m so sorry I understand the stress of not knowing. You’re seeking out other options which is great and I hope it’ll help Z.

What food are you looking to use? I am maybe going to switch Pepper as well.

Glad you all had fun! Back to normal now the party is over lol.

This is why it be frustrating to find answers if @MichiH changes food too often. For soft stools I wouldn't change anything, for diarrhea, I'd cut food way down day one, and if it persists then day 2 I'd feed cooked chicken and rice - again, not much volume, until It clears out, then half chicken/rice, half normal ration to ease back into normal meals. Without any other symptoms of feeling bad or fever, I don't go to the vet. But what I agree with here is if it's not the food causing it, there's not really a reason to change things up.

You’re right the kibble she uses has been fine. No issues. I wonder does she need sensitive dog kibble? Then again her kibble she’s been on seems to be fine with her, until this recent bout. Bland diet now like you said stools soft last night, but geller was started last night which may take 24 hours.

I suppose this is her life flare ups and hopefully her spay will help if it truly is hormonal with heats/false pregnancies.

Thank you @Ravenbird

Yeah, it would be really interesting if the bowel problems stopped after spaying. I would love to see an answer to your woes!

Also, I meant to add with chicken/rice meals I add bone broth (I usually keep some in the freezer from homemade) or even the chicken flavored water that I use to poach the chicken breasts. But with diarrhea they need to stay hydrated, so these things help.

After discussing a fish based protein which the vet thought would be a good start, I texted her a link to Member's Mark limited ingredient grain free. It has added taurine. She looked at it over the weekend and texted me back Monday that it would be an appropriate place to start, but she would still like to see an additional 1000mg taurine per day.

It sounds like both for Pepper and Z, they are showing things we don't prefer to have happen, but they both otherwise seem uncovered, which is great, as they dont deserve to be in any discomfort. Step at a time here. I guess if a year of trying to find a solution every 2 or 3 months fails, it will be time to try an allergy test. Until then we plan to bite off 2 or 3 months at a time of consistency, then change for another block of time, while also being attentive to her heat cycles in the mix.

Hallelujah, a normal BM today. She’s been on a bland diet for about two days. I’m going to introduce her kibble slowly today. Natures Farmacy loose stool Geller was a huge help! It’s to be used during a time of loose stool/diarrhea episodes , not every day and I can say it most definitely helped. I will keep this on hand for any future incidents with her, and hopefully the spay will help her too.

That's great to hear! Nature's Farmacy sells some really good stuff.

Dystopia expects sardines here and there as part of her meals. :)

Agatha about craps her fur pants every time the sardines come out. She is still adjusting to her new feeding routine here. :)
