Puppy bm

Did you think the Diagel helped?
100 percent yes! When they gave it to me I remembered your post 😁

She’s on meds for bacterial infection once again. I am hoping this is just a sensitive stomach and she is getting better with eating stuff. Clearly, we need to stay away from goose areas and water that’s not fresh.

Geese are out of here soon!!! Can’t wait!!!

Here we are again. Now Pepper is coming off her heat which could be it?

She only goes 1 x maybe 2x a day and when she does it’s loose. Although, Monday she had the urge after she went poop and kept trying. She was fine after her ER visit back to normal poop. Now we are in soft poop territory again.

Now I stopping ground turkey that she gets maybe that’s too fatty? I’ll keep with pumpkin kibble and her daily complete vitamins.

I did start natures farmacy probiotics last week with her compete mix and that’s double probiotics. I called them and they said it would be fine to use both, so maybe it’s not done with Pepper?

I don’t know, but it worries me to see not solid poop. If she gets any treats it’s fruit or some veggies which isn’t every day. I’m also stopping that for now.

She is fine otherwise and it’s full on diarrhea either.

What do you think?

I think, given her coming off heat, plus adding a new probiotic, I wouldn't worry too much at this time. I could see her guts needing time to adjust to either of those things, possibly both. I think you made a good move by backing up to the pumpkin, kibble and vitamin, for now. I was confronted with a loose stool this morning too, and Zastava started her third week of heat this past Sunday. Now, I also have an extra Doberman for a week, and whoever did it was in one of the very few square feet of my house not covered by cameras, so I can't say it was Z for sure. But I am guessing that the adding of Duchess stressed someone out just enough and that contributed to it. Not to say stress in a bad way, but just change, even good change, is still stress. So I am just watching for now, if it doesn't solve in a week, or gets worse in the next week, I will probably ask the clinic for a dose of Diagel and start with that.

Thank you for your input and thoughts on this. It always helps! So sorry you are facing so similar issues as well. I hope you are able to figure out exactly who it was and it’ll clear up too.

I definitely do believe the influx of hormones upsets Peppers stomach. I mean she’s clearly got a crazy sensitive stomach. I’m not as worried because thankfully it’s only 1-2 x a day. Still I want her to not have this issue at all.

Started some rice today as well and crossing my fingers this clears up asap.

I hope yours does too. I understand what you mean by stress it’s just a new way of things for now. It’s fun! The pics show they’re all having a blast, and I know you are too!

Have you tried doing less probiotics? I know of some doberman people that can only give their dobes probiotics once a week. Otherwise, they get soft stools. I tried a new probiotic right before Trendy bloated. A few of the others had soft stools. I have no idea if the probiotics contributed to the bloat but I immediately stopped and everyone's stools went back to normal. A case of too much of a good thing turning into a bad thing.

I just stopped the probiotics today and using only her complete vitamin mix. I agree too much of a good thing is what I wonder too.
Interesting they do it once a week makes a lot of sense. I guess this breed definitely has sensitive tummies.
I was using just the natures farmacy probiotics and switched over a while ago to the compete mix which has pre and pro in it too, then last week I started the probiotics also. Back to the basics once again and hopefully getting her back to normal.

I miss the few months she had solid poos that was so much less worry for me.

Thanks @Rits as always for the feedback and advice.

Back to basics is always a good idea. And yes, if you know that Peppers "normal" is having periods of soft stool, then as long as it's not blowing diarrhea, I would not worry about it. And if there's a week of soft stool try to keep steady on her diet instead of pulling things that were not a problem and adding things to fix it. If it's hormones, maybe the spay will fix everything!!! I do like the idea of occasional supplements rather than daily for Pepper. I give probiotics (Nutramax Proviable) daily and have for about 3 years now with no problems, but all these dogs are different.

We found that sometimes it wasnt the supplement but the manner it was being produced. Tasha was a byb rescue, she was so tiny and sick. We went through all the crazy stages but the one I found to work the best is getting to basics. The first few weeks I abandoned all processed food that didnt come out of my kitchen. I setteled on a 1/1/1 part recipe that fixed everything, about 6 months she started to thrive incredibly well. The vet was like what are you feeding her? I said food. She lived to be 13, she was a healthy girl all her life, never had another health issue with her digestion or weight. Sometimes basics are just the way to go.

Uh, @Rits you mentioned Trendy bloated? Yikes that had to be scary....did I miss that story on the forum somewhere, or is this the first time you mentioned? Sounds as though she is fine? These dobermans....hard not to be a helicopter parent with all that goes wrong sometimes!

I'm sure it's really frustrating to go through bouts like this. I can't remember when you said you have her new spay appointment but like @Rits suggested, it wouldn't hurt to fast her for at least 24 hours before the appointment.

Still at one semi loose stool a day. I ordered some hnatures farmacy geller, which arrives today. I am hoping that clears her up as she’s normal in all other aspects.
Makes me wonder if she has ibs at this point. Called the vet they aren’t worried due to heat ending which clearly causes her gi issues.
Going to bland diet today as well and looking to start a kibble for sensitive bellies moving forward.

Any other thoughts? Advice?

Thank you all, as always.
