Oh yes the furry vacuum cleaner. Kira ate 2 socks that vet took out when he spayed her. I have to have a soft muzzle if she goes around the house. I hope she grows out of a lot of this. All my American dobermans never did to me the things Kira the european has. Quite a challenge. Her ears are doing better but they seem to be ears that tell what mood she is in. Flying nun means she is bored and sleepy. Perky ears shes spotted something or alert. One ear up and one down. I have no idea.. lol Long ears for me is a first so not sure what is normal. Be taking her soon for just a yearly checkup will ask my new vet. They are super friendly at least so far and have heard great comments on them. He does ears all the time at least. She started getting sick late yesterday afternoon (of course after the vet closed) and couldn't stop vomiting and had nasty bloody diarrhea. Then she started whining and moaning and then growling/snarling at Elroy out of the blue. Poor guy was scared because he was even in the next room by me and didn't understand what he did wrong.
I called our vets office first thing this morning and the receptionist said all of their urgent care spots were filled so they couldn't get us in. I remember our vet telling us to tell them we are long time clients so she went and talked to him and right away he said he wants to see her.
We were suspecting an obstruction since she did eat a big wad of chewed up towel well over a month ago that she vomited up and ate again before I could clean it up. I threw all of that stuff away a long time ago but I know some stuff can sit in the intestines for quite a while. He did an x-ray and bloodwork and the x-ray didn't show an obstruction but he said that if it's cloth it won't show up so he had to give her some barium and check a little later. She did have a ton of gas, an infection in the intestines, severe dehydration and pancreatitis so he admitted her to keep her on IV's. He called about an hour ago and said the barium passed all the way through so there is no obstruction but her intestines are stretched out and extremely sore so she must have passed something through prior to this that made her so sick. At any rate, we can pick her up late this afternoon and she needs to be on meds and a bland diet for about a week. I'm so relieved that it wasn't worse and that she didn't need surgery.
They give us grey hair...
