My 6 year old has lost mobility in her back legs

So for about the past two weeks or so my dog has not been able to get up on her own and has no mobility in her hind legs and I haven’t noticed her tail wag or move except for when going to the bathroom. Prior to this condition and before first initial vet visit she was standing But having difficulty. it all happened within the weekend of June 19-22. I took her out on Friday night when we got to the field and let her off her collar and she took one step like she was going to takeoff and yelped and then didn’t proceed to move after that. Would still walk with me but was hesitant. Prior to this happening around May 23 she ran down the hill and had a bit of a tumble but didn’t show any signs of injury. Have taken her to the vet and had x-rays and bloodwork done and the vets couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary besides her having slight scoliosis and blood work came back clean and negative of any problems she’s had some pain medications and a shot of Cortizone from the vet To see if that would help with her mobility but it has yet to show any signs of improvement and was told that the next step would be To see a specialist so that they could x-ray her further and possibly have a surgery that cost 8 to 10 grand wondering if anyone has had anything similar to this happened or if anyone has any suggestions as to where to go next

Sorry I don't have any useful information. I hope you find help and you dog will feel better.
A nerve could be pinched in her spine, but that is only a guess.

Oh man, tough situation.. Im not a vet, but first thing that came to mind was a pinched nerve too, like Annv. Im not sure thats something that would show on xray, maybe on an mri?

Have you tried a veterinary acupuncturist?? Acupuncture can be very effective for a pinched nerve - has worked wonders for my girl. Might think about trying that before a very invasive surgery.

Sorry to hear this. Definitely sounds spinal to me. I would go see the specialist ASAP.. You really don’t need to wait on spine/nerve issues.

Have her checked for Wobblers or IVDD. She is at the age where Wobbler’s will set in. It’s a common disease in Dobermans. If her conformation is straight in the rear she is set up for IVDD. I would look into acupuncture and cold laser therapy. Do you have a Vet physical therapist by you? An underwater treadmill would also be helpful.

strongly recommend giving Nature’s Farmacy Phyto-Flex. EXCELLENT joint supplement. If you aren’t giving steroids or anti inflammatory meds I’d also add Golden paste while you wait for an answer. Since it is a Cox1/2 inhibitor you DO NOT want to give golden paste when you are giving any anti inflammatory meds as it will be like an overdose.

you should probably crate rest her minimum of two weeks when she’s down to help heal and to prevent further injury
