Understanding Holter Results

Thanks everyone. Since BYB Bonnie is a spayed NA/EU "purebred not wellbred" as I remind her...or a mutant weiner dog with long legs, as I tell those who ask "what breed"...

I wont be needing OFA cert. Just an accurate echo and holter so I'll return to this thread in January at age 3.

The good news is her Embark DNA showed COI of 21%, the bad news DCM1 and one of the CSD markers.

So I'm keeping an eye on wellness tests, feeding good stuff, and keeping her trim and well exercised.

She is helping me do the same!

"purebred not wellbred"
I think you are being humble about your BYB, but if she looks nice, trains well and pleases you, that's all that matters. The long legs are probably due to early spay, not her genetics. I'm assuming she was spayed early, but not sure. COI of 21 is very impressive and may contribute to a longer life, since so much genetic illness is due to genetics being repeated and it has been said that higher COI suppresses the immune system which gives cancer a better chance.... The DCM markers mean nothing at this point, so there's that. Pat yourself on the back for doing all you can to increase your knowledge and help your girl live her best life with you.

Update: We got her results, and they're way better woohoo! The Holter process wasn't too tough, but she's also very used to being messed with and was very cooperative. I am posting her results for everyone to see the difference in case it helps with their own pups. She is on 120mg of Sotalol with no crazy side effects, so I think it's doing what it's supposed to do. First picture is her first Holter, and the second is the most recent one (1.5 months on Sotalol, no other changes). Screenshot 2025-09-18 at 5.05.39 PM.webpScreenshot 2025-09-18 at 5.04.36 PM.webp

Don't underestimate the power of keeping your pup well-exercised and at a healthy weight! It helps prevent a ton of problems and promotes healthy aging.
