Meet Melrae's Surprise Package !!

Wow, great interaction with the horses! Love how she laid out so flat and watched so calmly! I guess the horses can see through their masks and that's why they were able to zero in on Annie so easily, or do they follow her scent, or maybe they follow your voice?
Yes I thought it was a great interaction! She practically touched noses. And didn't run away.

And yes, Jan is right, they can see fairly well out of those masks. There are times when something is far away and you can tell they are staring and trying to focus in on it. But for the most part they can see fairly well. And believe me they love them! When the Flies and gnats are bothering them and they don't have them on and they see me coming with them in my hand, they walk right over to me with lowered heads like, put that on! Better to see through a screen then have bugs all over their face! 😖

I was commenting to my husband again how much Annie has grown! And he saw it too but was even more impressed and convinced when I showed him some pictures. When you're with them all the time sometimes it's hard to see change!

This is the first day we picked her up and went back to our daughter's home. You can see the Kali and Annie are almost the same size!

Now look at some from today.

She's taller and longer!

It's that time again.

I was in the barn with Annie waiting for my farrier. He didn't know anything about her. She was on a long line and was outside the barn when he drove in. I said, Come here. I want to show you something. When he saw her he says, Oh! A new Doberman! Then he said, I thought you were going to show me a baby horse LOL I said, Well, she is, kind of. LOL

Welp, time to move up! She has really grown! In height and weight and in length! It seems she needs something bigger.

This is my first crate from my first Doberman. I didn't even remember it. The only one I remembered was the Great Dane crate that we got for Buddy. I believe it was for our sons wedding. We were going to leave him in a crate all day with my neighbor coming over several times to take care of him. I chose the Great Dane crate for its size and height. Since he would be in it for so long I wanted him to be able to stand up in it and not crush his ears. He was potty trained by that time so I wanted it more like a pen than anything.

But I didn't think I was going to use that for Annie and wondered what I was going to do. Until my husband said, "you know you have another crate down there." (In the basement.) I'm like, I do? That's great!

So we brought it up yesterday took it outside and scrubbed it down and she seems to really like it!

I'm going to keep the puppy crate in our bedroom for the time being for overnight. When she grows out of that completely I don't know what I'm going to do. Taking this crate from one end of the house to the other every night and every morning is going to be a real pain. That's what I've been doing with the puppy crate but I can easily move that. I just might have to buy another one. 🤷‍♀️

just might have to buy another one.
So I ordered another crate for the bedroom. 😏 Just a wee bit smaller than this one in my kitchen breakfast area. It's coming tomorrow! At least that's what they say. I've heard that before, right? 😮‍💨

Anyways, today is really what we call a washout. Just raining all. day. long. I think it's been raining since 9:00am. So I ended up taking out Annie's posts. There was no way I can get her outside without getting her wet. So here's a sneak peek again. A video capture picture off of a video I did.

And I have to tell you a little story of something that happened yesterday. Annie and I were out on the back deck. I had the door open to the house just a little bit with the screen closed. I think at that time we were both just resting. There was no noise or anything. No playing or walking around the deck. When suddenly she picked up her head and gave a little woof. I looked at her and really didn't think much of it. Until later...when I saw an alert on my phone. Someone had been at my front door! I looked at the video and I didn't recognize the man nor did I hear the doorbell. I saw him ring it but Kali didn't even bark and I know she would have if she heard it. She just might be getting hard of hearing too just like @Gelcoater dog.

But I'll tell you what? Annie will be my ears and I will for sure investigate anytime I think she heard something!! 🐕

That's pretty amazing that she perked up when the guy came. So young but all the instincts of a Doberman are there.

I also got Kaiser a Great Dane sized crate so he could have enough room for his ears LOL, and of course for him to turn around without hitting his nub. Best part was letting him tear apart the crate packaging - all that cardboard kept his mouth entertained for weeks lol.

They're coming along very nicely!

It's coming tomorrow!
On a Sunday? Of course we've had FedEx and USPS come on Sunday a few times this past year.

There's always something that I have to hit funny on. :D

If she's anything like these two, they're pretty silent alerters.

Oh, yea. That's nothing. I had something delivered on Memorial day!

It says by 10pm today so we'll see.

I am actually the person who delivers Sundays and holidays for my zip code. I'm part time with USPS and that's mostly all I do there (along with a very short 2 hour rural route Saturday mornings). We only do Amazon on Sundays and holidays. No Target or Walmart merch on the truck. After a year and a half of doing it I still don't know if Amazon pressured the post office into it or if the post office wanted Sunday deliveries to ease the Monday work load. It's kinda fun tho, just drive a postal truck around the countryside for 4-6 hours and it pays great. Taking today off for a graduation tho 🙂

I bet you see Annie's new crate today.
