We had our vet visit for another puppy shot series. Only I made a mistake and it was actually
tomorrow!
I was shocked and embarrassed!
I don't know if I've ever done that with
any appointment. But I drove a half hour to get there and ask them if they could is just give her the shot. I didn't think I even needed to see the Vet per se. They told me once before that there are times when you just need like a rabies shot or something sometimes the vet tech can give it without seeing the Vet. But she said because Annie is a puppy he would like to examine her and make sure everything is going okay.
So she checked with the Vet and he said he would squeeze me in. I had to wait about a half hour or more but that was fine with me. I was there. I wanted to get it done. And Annie was very good. She sat on my lap the whole time. I also got a visual on how good my Vet is with scheduling patients. He is not with a conglomerate. He is his own company and that's one of the things I love about him. And his patients are scheduled like clockwork but not overbooked. As I sat there I saw people coming in, checking in, weighing in, and then being sent to a room. There were a couple of dogs that were dropped off for scheduled surgeries. But it was very interesting on how nicely spaced out everything was. And I was a little concerned that I was screwing up the whole system!
The first dog that walked in Annie gave a little growl! LOL that always throws people off! After that she seemed just curious. But content to stay on my lap. Although she barely fits anymore! She had to kind of do a sit with her two front legs over my arm holding her on my lap . One time there was a dog in the back barking and after listening intently for a few minutes she finally let out of bark!
But they got everyone taken care of and then sent me to a room. When he came in I told him, I'm so sorry! I don't know how I screwed that up except last time I was here on a Tuesday and I think I automatically thought it was Tuesday!
But he didn't have a problem with it and he checked her over, took her temperature, gave her her shot, ask how I was doing with the ears and potty training and said everything looks good. She had gained about 5 lb since the last time I was there and she looked good and healthy and we were on our way! She weighed in at 21.7lbs.
I also had a encounter with an older gentleman,...haha. probably my age! LOL He came in with a dog to be dropped off for surgery. When he went to check in he looked at me and Annie and said, Those look ridiculous.
I assume he meant her ears and I was a little taken back!
The whole time I'm trying to think of something to say back to him!
LOL
But then when he took his dog into the back he turned around to me and said, "I had doberman's 40 years ago so I've been through that!"
Well, that made me feel a little better! LOL When he came back out he came over to talk to me and he asked how old she is and told me about some of his dobermans. I told him this is my fourth actually. He seemed surprised. We chatted for a bit and then he wished me good luck and left. So that went from what I thought was going to be
