    Cropped dog traveling

Last Xmas my son wanted to bring his little dog with him from Argentina to England but he couldn’t come direct by plane. He ended up flying to Madrid (where he stayed with a friend for a few days) & then to flew to Paris. From Paris he got someone (a specialist doggy service) to drive them both...

    Dobermans and the heat

Luna is a Red Dobe & though she loves lying in the sun for short periods of time, when training outside in class any sunny day above 22C (72F) & after 5-10 minutes she’d go from being keen to please & obedient to a complete refusenik while all the other breeds kept going. (Definitely cemented...

    Cropped dog traveling

It’s fine to bring a cropped & docked Dobe into England. You might not be able to bring him in on a plane though. Out yes, but in, for all dogs, I believe there are restrictions.

    Calming bed

Taken this morning pre walk while we were waiting for the rain to stop & 18 months on from my original post, bed has been unzipped & washed 4 times.

Is this breed right for me?

Agee with the above posts. Though they mostly fit the breed characteristics they are individuals with different needs. The most frequent comment I get from strangers (after “wow what a beautiful dog ”) is “I bet she needs masses of exercise“. Two points here…some I’ve had do & others...

    Reactive puppy

Ive had several Doberman over the years & living in England all have had a high Euro heritage. My latest girl turned out to be an absolute monster right into early adulthood, & I knew that probably 19 out of 20 owners couldn’t have coped & would have had to have rehomed her. As a breed generally...

Trusting A Puppy in the Car

My current Dobe would have destroyed the car & in fact at 9 months she “re modelled” the back of the passenger seat 10 minutes into a 20 minute drive. Something I’ve done in the past may be of use to you re the car kennel as an option. As my dog grew couldn’t find a ready made car kennel that...

    What’s your dogs call sign?

Luna is called errr….Luna….except when she’s being very cute next to me on the sofa & then she’s my “treasure pup”🙂

Training a new puppy with an existing adult dog

My guess it’ll depend on the nature of your Dobe pup & how you react ( calm & positive) as to how it’ll be affected by your anxious lab. indoors. I would definitely advise walking them separately until the pup has grown up. Play pen is a great idea to keep the pup contained ( we used to have her...

Help with "Sit on the dog"....

I couldn’t have managed 1 minute with Luna at 18 months (& I doubt that Margo could have done either) ….but I wish you good luck:thumbsup2:

My 13 month doberman keeps attacking dogs

Very handsome boy. It’s quite possible that during his 8 months in Hungary he had an incident/issue with an aggressive smaller dog. Not knowing that bit of history doesn’t help you but his reaction to your dog doesn’t mean that it’s trait that will follow through to other situations. My first...

    Flint embarrassed me today...

An anecdote regarding their cunning nature… I got my my first two Dobies a year apart, both female & both pups from 8-10 weeks old, but in character they were like chalk & cheese. The older of the pair was super bright & the younger not so. Once they’d become adults they were allowed into the...

My 13 month doberman keeps attacking dogs

Though frowned upon in the U.K. I think you’ll find that e-collars are available & not currently illegal. Whether that’s the right approach for your case is for you to decide. There’s lots of owners here with experience of the devices that could help you there.

    Should we get a Dobe?

Hi, welcome from Norfolk, U.K. It looks like you’ll be just fine. 4 of our 6 Dobes were raised & lived in North London when I worked mostly from home. What you need to do is get the right pup from the litter. All are likely to be highly trainable but what you don’t want is the brightest or...
