I know it seems like she just had it, but it’s been 6 months. Hard to believe it’s back again.
For whatever reason I thought she was just ahead of Olive and she (Olive) wasn't due to come back in until July. I must have been thinking about a different dog though.

She had it in December, so I guess May is correct. She went 5 months last heat.
That would be Annie. She should be due around July.

She’s 20 months now and has matured a lot, but still a puppy so she has her moments.
Time period that was the most difficult was 8 weeks, when she came home to us, until around 10 months. She got her first heat at 10 months and she seemed to have settled a bit after that heat. There were many times I questioned what I had done and if I brought home an evil maniac. Not the case anymore, and for sometime really. I’d say got easier after that first heat.
She still tends to eats things so I am always on alert with that and not sure she’ll ever stop that bad habit. Many say oh she’s still a puppy, but I don’t think that’s the case, she just can’t help herself. Although, she’s gotten better with it and doesn’t eat poop anymore!
Cruise control now, probably since around 12 months. She’s sharp with her commands, amazing with my boys and their friends, a Doberman when she needs to be and a love bug always, an absolute baby when she’s with my husband- although she does try to work the system with him…
Still not into other dogs, but can walk by them without a care in the world, makes me laugh she’s like a stuck up snob when we pass other dogs. That Doberman high step and head up.
Still in her crate when I leave and at night, can’t trust her and not worth the risk of her harming herself. I let her nap sometimes in my bed while I do housework and she’s perfect, because she knows that’s a privilege.
Goes to soccer and lacrosse games and is amazing always. Travels well and does wonderfully on vacation - out of her element.
She’s the best, she makes me so proud. I could go on and on haha. Went off topic a bit sorry. I do greatly appreciate ALL of you on DCF you really helped me when I was struggling. It’s like your first child you’re clueless and I have no doubt with number two I’d feel more confident and better equipped to raise a dobershark.

Ragnar was a jackass with this- a real goat. He ate everything and always would have…I should have started a muzzle but if you don’t start muzzle training early and desensitize it, it’s a huge PITA.
Freyja gets a little mouthy with grass and acorns but she verbally redirects well and will drop it while giving you the slow side eye.
No doubt this is a testament of your hard work and being true to the course.
Freyja mostly sleeps at the foot of the bed but when wife is gone, will sleep next to me. I think, they think the greatest treat/gift in the whole wide world is to be on the bed! I can see it in her face and demeanor…it’s like they have achieved the highest level of heaven.
This always amazed(s) me. Even though we trained often, I always expected them to act wild and crazy when we are out. Tbh, it’s the total opposite. They lock in their focus and perform to the T. Always, always always makes me super proud. And then for others to look and gasp- man….thats a Doberman right there!
Soccer fields are always the best. I am looking forward- my daughter is home from college and will be playing with the regional semi-pro soccer league…that gives me good opportunity to take Freyja to the fields.
The hard work, frustration, PITA moments are so worth it when it comes together. It’s like you understand why all the hard work was necessary- nothing great ever comes easy.

You’re right when you get the looks of amazement, it feels good. It’s like we did this! We made it!
I wish she could sleep in the bed and I do think she’d be fine at night, but she has cobbed our comforter so my fear I can’t get over it. Maybe one day. It is really heaven for them the ultimate for sure.
You’re so right - nothing great comes easy. Hard work pays off.

I have noticed recently when we play with the hose which is 10-15 min, after Pepper has loose stools, which turn into a bursts of diarrhea, and have blood in it too. I do give her frozen blueberries in the am and I was thinking maybe it’s that not blood. The hose game is intense as Pepper sprints, jumps, and shakes with excitement when I even hold the hose.
I have read exercise diarrhea is a thing, could that be it? She’s fine otherwise and her bms are normal.
She’s on her normal diet and this seems to have right after the hose game only.

Exercise diarrhea is something I am a believer in. Or, more specific to my pack, stress pooping, even from good stress. Our examples: last summer, every time we got to the dog park, Zastava was so excited for it that she would poop really loose, with blood in it, every single time. I dont give my dogs blueberries, so I know it was blood. That has really subsided this year. The other time I see this is during or after one of our area Doberman meet ups, Z will have loose stools/diarrhea during the meetup, and the day after. Katyusha will have one loose stool the morning after the meetup. I think the amount of pumped you describe from Pepper about the hose game could easily fit from what I see in my dogs, post-pumped about other stuff.

Thank you for sharing your experience I really appreciate it. We’ve had so many diarrhea issues that as you know when I see it I stress myself. The past few hose events it has correlated so I am leaning towards exercise diarrhea. This is the only play game she goes hard with and literally is shaking.
Thank you again for sharing knowing your crew experiences it too helps ease my mind.
I am also confident when she gets her heat she also has loose stools/diarrhea before and in the beginning of the heat.
She seems to have an extremely sensitive stomach
And thank you for sharing the heat experience, its something I will remember if I see it in Zastava.
This is why I love this forum and community, there's just so much polite help and experience here.
I was going to say something about the hose play, but never did. I mentioned it years ago when Asha got nuts about the water hose. She didn't have loose stools but the intensity of the hose became crazy-making. As much fun as it seems to be for them it is mentally frustrating because they cannot grasp it. Biting water gives them nothing to grip or shake. The laser light toys that were so popular for cats years ago were found to be detrimental to their mental health. Prey drive needs to be rewarded with a catch, hold and "kill" (shaking the rag).

Playing in and biting flowing water is a favorite thing, to the point where I can't water the flowers & veggies without locking her out of the area that I have the hose. Then she runs laps and barks non-stop. I'll have to get pictures or a video of the insanity over a water hose, it's like since she can't bite it and GET it, the frustration builds. Anyone else have this problem?Here's a photo of pure joy, getting to bite water:
