I've heard that's a beautiful area.itās the Catskills in upstate NY
Well, I am embarrassed to say it, I cancelled it. I started weighing it all out and figured I can wait sheās 19.5 months. I donāt want to deter you and you have more experience than me anyway, but too many thoughts and I backed out. The family agrees itās fine to wait and are on board to handle her heats for now. I hate being crazyHow did Pepper's spay go @MichiH? Olive's is coming up next week and I'm starting to fret.
I went through all the trouble to back outThat's not crazy at all and I don't blame you for waiting.
Olive is 2 years, 2 months so that's old enough considering I don't want to deal with two intact dogs in the house.
You are not crazy.I went through all the trouble to back out, but I have a vet now that I so far feel good about at least.
I completely understand and with two intact Iād do just the same as soon as I could.
I figure reevaluate at 2 years and see how itās going.

That's perfectly acceptable. I'm beginning to consider spaying now that we're going on 6 years, mainly after watching Reckless have to get spayed at age 10 due to hormones gone wonky at age 9 and the fact that age makes it more of a trauma just like humans don't recover as fast from anesthesia & surgeries.I figure reevaluate at 2 years and see how itās going.
I think thatās where we are at now. We have time and having a heat hasnāt been an issue for her or us.That's perfectly acceptable. Same that also worries me as she gets older. My biggest concern is pyometra since it is life threatening. From what I've found it doesn't occur as much in younger intact girls and I like to wait until they're at least 2 to spay. Of course like I said, dealing with 2 intact dogs, it's just the logical choice for us.

and not to forget spay incontinence.
Yes..Yes Pyo is my #1 reason to want to spay and incontinence is my #1 reason why I don't want to!
@Ddski5 - Are the meds still working well for Freyja?
Yes..
Thank goodness.
2 tablets- 1 morning 1evening
One $80 bottle last one month.
$80 a month is definitely worth it. Completely eliminates her spay incontinence.
Yes, it seems urinary incontinence happens with female Dobermans who become spayed. Freyja was spayed a little over 2yrs age and then developed urinary incontinence a year later.I is new here so not sure and asking - Was that a result of a spay surgery?
Good grief that is a lot of money over time...
