2024 goals for my Dobergirls

I don't think I originally listed urban as a goal for Katyusha this year but here we are! Time to maintain her and buckle down on Zastava's training now.
thank you all! Pretty proud of her, she's so easy to lead.
Took the week off this week to train and prep Zastava for her CGC evaluation. Took her out yesterday to the local hardware and she really exceeded my expectations. Took her to the bigger city today to the stores we have the choice of her being evaluated in, and she rocked it! This 9 month old made me so proud with her behavior all day both days, so when we got home, I texted the evaluator that I am confident at this point that we can schedule the evaluation and not be wasting her time. It feels so good to arrive at this point with her, and I am super excited for it.
I did get screamed at by a nasty guy about why I would even think about bringing that "effing dog" into a (pet friendly and the sign is on the front door) store. He was leaving, I was walking in, I pointed out that the store allows it, and he just screamed back at me "EFFING MORON!", and sped off, safely in his truck with the door closed. We went about our day. I figure he was late for his nap time. I feel bad for people who, with all the things to be angry about, that this is the hill he seems to want to die on. Anyway, I don't know his story, so I shouldn't probably judge, but I kinda needed to vent. Sorry about the side-track.
Here she was, just chilling in the outfitter's shop. She got lots of love in there today, despite that one episode of hatred outside the other store.
This was pretty much her attitude all day, at least as soon as the "newness" of each store wore off. Just waiting for me to finish up my conversation with an employee who had taken a shine to her.

Scheduled Zastava for her CGC evaluation December 29th at 3 pm. Gives us a few weeks to get polished up together. We went out today and she would have been a hard fail at our first stop, the pet store, but then we went to her test site and she really behaved much better there. Its a large hardware store with a nice offering of pet supplies, and a large part of the building is open, almost unused. Cattle gates and fencing supplies are there in the open part, it will be a good environment for her evaluation. Last week in that area, she gave me the down-stay and 20 foot leash items no problem, twice each. Feeling good about not wasting the evaluator's time.
I've often heard that anger is really just another form of fear. And no offense, but I find it mostly in men because they can't admit they're afraid.
He probably was afraid of your dog and that made him angry. It's annoying but I guess if you think of it that way you might not be so offended. I would have been offended and put off if I encountered that guy. 
So I would have to try hard to remember that he probably was just afraid. I know there's a lot of people who can look at a doberman and freak.

I agree with you that anger is often misplaced fear. I've been wondering since then if it really was because she is a Doberman. I wish I just could have had a conversation with him rather than being shouted at. It would have been more productive. But I gained my peace about it pretty quickly, because it was clear that whatever his issue was, I knew it didn't start with me and Zastava. Katyusha and I were invited to be on hand at our winter carnival tomorrow (the indoor part). Kind of doing therapy work but also not really? She will be there to show what a therapy dog is, that we have one in our small town, and that yes, even a Doberman can do it! Not everyone who meets her will need her, necessarily. In fact, most won't. So I guess the opportunity is education. The county K-9 unit has been invited at the same time, but they can be hit or miss, as they might need to be working something hot. Another opportunity to show the world what powerful tools dogs are for us, whether the lawdog can come or not.

We hope it will be @JanS . We can only see what tomorrow brings. I am a little worried about it because this is a much wider audience than she has ever been asked to work in, yet, I believe she (we) are up to the task.

She (we) were up to the task today! People of all ages and cultures were there and everyone seemed happy to see her and she was sure happy to see everyone! Santa and Mrs. Claus were there too! I figured they are overworked and underpaid at this time of year, so I made sure they got some time with her, too.
Santa's beard is completely legit, by the way. I bought the green "FRIENDLY" leash and harness for the girls, because not everyone would assume by looking, plus I kind of really admire the color coding of bandannas or leashes that most of the world does, and would like to see more of it stateside. More than one person mentioned that they appreciated it, as they would have assumed otherwise without it.
