Dog Related Plans & Goals for 2025

I have myself and Zastava enrolled in a nosework for beginners class, and hope to enter her in a UKC trial in summer or fall to see if we learned it well.
Zastava and I did trial in nosework in May and again in July, and earned her Novice Nosework title. In both July and September we ran some trials in advanced nosework but we were unable to title in that level. Had fun trying!
But I want to train the other dogs to do it too, Toby can't see but his nose is amazing and it might be a great way to get him engaged in something.
I did dabble in training with the other two. Katyusha just wanted me to hand her the reward without doing the work, lol. Toby was less capable than I had hoped of making any coherent process of the game, but I still found ways to involve and reward him for his efforts, so I think it was good for him.
But if it goes well I can pick one of them and also teach them to find Pheasant back and Morel mushrooms later on and go on mushrooms hunts.
Didn't even touch this one in 2025.
Katyusha will, in the natural progression of things drop the novice part of her therapy dog title, she might even make 100 cumulative visits this year to go on to Therapy Dog Advanced.
New year's eve was Katyusha's 96th therapy visit!
I have a personal goal of getting in shape enough to do the 1 mile fundraising run that we have locally,
I failed this entire thing hard.
This one is a little odd but I'd like to take them to the Renaissance Festival this fall.
Didn't make it to the festival. One thing that we never planned on doing but we did, and Z and I really learned to enjoy it, was the conformation ring. This was a byproduct of being at our first show for her nosework trial, some folks talked me into trying it and lent me a show lead, we went for it, and she earned her Show Dog Champion title in September! Boy are we hooked now! Here is her new champion photo from September. DSC_1954.webp
We also got the opportunity to take the AKC temperament test and Farm Dog Certified test. She did succeed in temperament but will need another pass for Farm dog to get that.

Anyway, here is her ribbon collection for 2025, except the CGC ribbon is an add on from December 29th of 2024.20251225_204042.webp

And it was so enjoyable to spend some of those moments with you and Zastava!
We enjoyed spending many of those moments with you and Olive and Elroy, especially fun in my memory was being in the ring with Elroy and watching Olive sit on the chair, ringside, wearing her Reserve Best In Show rosette!

Wow, congratulations!!!

First goal Spay! Praying it goes well and as planned in February.

We have two Fast CAT races coming up early January. Confident now that Pepper will be fine and behaved on a flat collar.

Continue training with me, a few vacations to set up and Pepper will come too. She’s really matured and it’s just funny how insane she was as a pup.

Looking forward to many hikes, trips, and hanging out with my girl. Truly my bestie.

Happy New Year all!

I have an iffy schedule this year but will continue to work on my AKC Scentwork Excellent title (we have 3 out of 4 elements) and even if I don't trial in obedience, I'll still continue to work on our CDX exercises at home because Asha loves to train. And yes, hiking is the best here and a couple of miles a few times a week always makes life better.
Well, I did complete my SWE title and have trialed in Masters level, getting a couple of Q's, but I think that's the only trialing I did this year. We did and still do practice obedience just because we both love training. Not on the goals, but we went to a bite work workshop and an obedience/heeling seminar. That's always fun since it costs about the same as a trial, but it's zero pressure/stress and 100% learning & fun, especially since I don't have any trialing goals. Doing things just to do something fun with my dog and better my handling and training skills.
The hikes have continued and remain a steady thing for both me and Asha for mental and physical enrichment.

Agree with you on the hikes. It is both one of our favorite things to do too.
