Several months ago we had to take Rumor to the emergency Vet. It was a nightmare! That was back when you waited in your car and a vet tech came out and took your dog in. The phone consult with the vet seemed like a waste of time. The result was pretty inconclusive (Some rumblings of possibly some sort of toxin) and Rumor was left with tremors.
The tremors had become pretty much random and not near as often. Then today that changed. She had a seizure at about 7 this morning. It wasn't too bad, at first she just staggered then she fell to the ground and was salivating pretty heavy. She lost control of her bowels and seemed REALLY disoriented. .I called the vet and took her in. They did some blood work as well as checked her from top to bottom. She seemed okay and blood values all looked pretty good. It was decided to take her home and keep an eye on her. If she had another episode, bring her back. Well of course she did and it was just after hours so off to the ER we went. The ER Vet feels that perhaps there was some sort of toxin the last time and maybe this time. She was diagnosed with some sort of epilepsy that will remain idiopathic because they can't prove anything. Apparently few toxins remain in the system with the exception of a couple to test for.
Rumor will remain in the ICU while they dial in her dose of anti seize meds.
I hope they get this figured out quick! I just got home and it's waaaay too quite here. I need her busy self back home!
