You send them into the company (Alba) or whoever you choose and they read the results. They charge $40 bucks per scan. BUT the vest is like 130-200 bucks not included with the holter kit. I could probably jimmy rig something...
ALBA Medical Systems:
We can still scan analog Holter cassettes. Send your cassettes in for scanning. When we receive your tapes, we will carefully scan them and create a Hospital quality report, complete with paragraph-style diagnostic summary. The cover page will be FAXed to you and the complete report will be sent via the U.S. Mail. Electronic delivery service is available at no additional charge. Our fee for this service starts at $40 per scan.

They also have the digital Holter kits...

But this one is out of my price range:

$995.00 - $1,295.00

This is a complete package of a DR200+ Digital Holter Monitor and all the equipment you need to test your dogs. Included is: - DR200 Holter, Patient Cable, (3) Flash Cards for recording, (5) Sample Hook-up Kits, USB Flash Card Reader, Hook-up Instructions, Transmission Instructions, Plastic Carrying Case. Please note that the Transmission CD in the picture is no longer used and not provided. (Transmission is now done online).

We have the digital Alba we purchased about 3yrs ago. But we went in with 3 other Dobe owners we know. We had together 8 Dobes.
It came out to about $350 per owner. We Holter every 3mo. now. Our current boy was diagnosed (at 6yrs old) with Occult DCM in Dec. 2015. So it’s been 2 1/2yrs since his diagnosis. So far no progression! He is on 4 Heart meds, Thyroid med and lots and lots of supplements!

Before he was diagnosed we Holtered every year. He also gets an Echo every 6mo.

What ever monitor you purchase or have done at a cardiologist, its the right thing to do. Early testing with a 24hr monitor and Echo are the only steps on catching this horrid disease early! Which can help to extend the life of the dog!
To have a healthy dog and keep them healthy is not cheap! Especially this breed.

It’s a sad situation to see these poll results when there are so many members on this site!

Yago is proof testing should be done. Three years and no signs of progression! :woot:
I look at Drake some days and wonder what would have become of him if he wasn't mine. Sadly the answer is he would be someones memory. Instead he's living a wonderful life, even reminding Rumor he is still King. :D
