I’ve no opinion on that line, but on looks.
You sort of just described a South American Dobe too.
Looked at any?

I agree with you in terms of an affinity for the appearance of a nice powerful Euro Dobermann.

I haven't spent much time at all trying to find answers on specific Euro lines. I might like to get a Euro show/work line for my next Dobe. My last two have been working lines and, while they have drive and athleticism in spades, the impressive appearance is lacking – especially my current boy. Seems you sacrifice one for the other.

I am quite afraid of importing, so I would like to find a breeder, I could drive to, here in the States who deals in quality Euro lines. Basically, I am in a similar boat to you.

On the other hand, Oji's breeder of proven Euro working-line Dobes is very big into health research and is delivering some healthy Dobes – with good temperament – into the world (very sparsely of course). So I'm torn.

My advice: Make a short list of breeders of the type of Dobermann you seek and who actually answer your emails/calls in a timely fashion and are open to questions, and to you coming to visit their operation – or at least who provide a plentiful supply of credible photographs and pedigree and health testing information. Gather as much information on/from them as you can. They should also scrutinize you and it should be at least a bit of a challenge to satisfy them that you are a good potential home for one of their pups.

The breeder currently competes and was on there way home from a trial as I spoke to them today
That is impressive that she took the time to reply to you on her way home from a trial.

On the other hand, it (and this makes me sad to say) almost makes her sound too willing to sell pups. I know that is a jaded thought; but it is shaped by my experience with breeders. It's a brutal thing – akin to dating or a job search. Does one or the other party seem too interested? You may be rebuffed, rejected or led on. Ain't a pretty process, and can make you lose some faith in mankind.

So, was it an IPO trial? By any chance did it involve the sire or dam of the litter you're considering?

I thought the South American doberman favored the American doberman?
It’s been sometime. There was a thread or two years ago. The SA dogs looked like a sweet mix of both. A little bigger boned than Euro, a more rich mohagony color.
But that was strictly looks, from pics.
As to their temperament, work drive, etc, I’d have no idea.
I do remember really liking the colors and physical shape/lines.
I’ll look around for it.

@Ingrid H
Was it you that was crushing on some South American Doberman?
Sucks getting old, can’t remember the thread now.

Not sure I would assume she isn’t a breeder doesn’t have a long line of dogs I believe she only breeds for her purposes doesn’t have multiple breeding dogs

I think you posted a pic of a couple S.A. police with a Dobermann K9 officer.

Lots and lots of controversy surrounding Fedor. He's in this pedigree twice, both sides. That would be enough for me to think twice.

and Maxim di Altobello. I remember there being controversy on his COD. Was said to be snail poison but I don't remember hearing anything official. People speculated DCM because of that.

I would recommend trying to find the health and COD of any and all dogs in a pedigree you are interested in.

Hi. I just wanted to weigh in because I have two euro dobermans. I just got my female from Altobello last June. They were really good to work with. We got our male from Kimbertal. I know there is allot of opinions about Kimbertal but I can only tell you about my experience. We have the most beautiful male from them and he is 4 1/2 now. He has the best personality, very calm and submissive. My little girl directly from Altobello is the alpha bossy one right now. Our male from Kimbertal is from the Altobello line. Just wanted to weigh in not get into any opinions. IMG_2044[1].PNG IMG_2045[1].PNG
