Doberman puppy owners - track your weight gain here

She has officially started her first heat cycle as of a couple of days ago, pretty close to her 1-year mark. The old incontinence army blankets are back out on furniture, that's easier than dog panty usage for now. No behavioral challenges so far, she's staying her usual self. A chastity belt like Asha's thong would be pretty handy right about now!

Lucky you, Ashra's heat looked like a murder scene, she had to have the blankets AND the panties because she was dripping all on the floor. I didn't notice any behavioural changes either at the time, but now she's more ballsy than before and has actually growled/barked at a couple of dogs she didn't like while on our walks :|, but from her lineage, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

By the way, I think there's going to be a fan club of Asha's thong starting up pretty soon :)!

Ziggy has been gaining weight steadily. The vet expects him to be in 85-90 lb. range based on her experience of owning and showing dogs of the breed for nearly 30 years. She said, however, she wouldn’t be surprised if he ballooned to 100 lbs. based on his bone structure. Wow, that’s a lot of dog.

"Everyday I'm shu-hunting'" (bad pun, I know... but I seem to have taken so many hunting poses this week :p) Anyways, it's still all good news with the weight gain, I think Ashra is pretty much back to normal. Might be looking to put an extra kilo on her just before the show for the smooth look, but I'm just so damn thrilled that she's at a healthy weight now :D and getting surprisingly muscular in no time

Mark: love this photo! I can tell the kind of bark he is doing, just by looking at the face he is making! that 'woooo-woooo-woooooooo" bark..... with lots of ooooo's in it? Baba does that too, when he is alarmed by something, but he does his 'tough guy' bark with alot more teeth! :)

Well Liberty and Justice both went to the Vet the other day. Liberty is now 19 weeks and 47 lbs, Justice is 2 years old and 94 lbs. Liberty has really hit a growth spurt these past few weeks. She's dang near heavy to pick up and bring upstairs.

Ziggy is done with vet visits for a year. Now I will be posting monthly weights. Ziggy was born on 4/20 so I weighed him on 8/21 and he weighed in at 42 pounds. His leg, shoulders and chest are starting to get more and more muscular. He still looks like such a puppy and already weighs this much, I can only imagine what I'm in for.

Oh gosh, teach that girl to use the steps -they can do it. ;) I know I threw my back out last year carrying Albert up and down so he got a crash course in the steps and did perfectly after a time or two.

Elek seems a bit erratic in his growth... He is lean without being skinny, but if I try to increase his food too much he has trouble with some loose stools.
I guess I'd rather have him a bit on the lean side as opposed to growing to fast and increasing the potential for bone/joint issues. :)
DOB March 24, 2012

16 wks -- 46.0# -- 21.50"
17 wks -- 48.5# -- 22.00" (fighting the hot weather and some loose stools)

I know I have been trying, but they go to the loft and it's a bit narrow. She is fine coming up stairs ( normal stairs ) but again these are narrow or closely put together for saving space. She's going to get it eventually......

Our Cato was born on the 29th day of October 2011 and shared an embryo sac with another black/rust male. At 12 weeks old(the day he came home)he weighed 17.6lbs. His papa is a three yr old weighing in at 90 lbs breeding weight. Because Cato is a natural twin I'm wondering if he will be smaller than the average male Dobe. Any thoughts?100_0036.JPG
The child is the daughter of one of our church member family. She exercises very good control of Cato.

How much does he weigh now? My mares sire was a twin and she was definitely on the small side and so was her sire considering the lineage. Cato looks to be of a normal size now, but it is hard to judge from that angle too. Our male, Boris was only about 21# when we brought him home at 19 weeks but grew up to weigh over 90#.
