Whoa~! Rein 'em in here and show your horse! 2026

I love it! I like unique names and it just rolls off the tongue. That’s really cool you’ve had him since a yearling, I’d love to and I’m used to green horses but I’d rather not start one on my own.
Well I first saw him as a yearling. But I bought him as a 2-year-old and brought him home at two and a half years of age. The guy I bought him from broke him and put training on him for me. I was over there a lot so I got to be a part of it. He did a good job with him. I've never had a problem with him. 🥰

This is just a shameless plug but has anyone here ever looked into infrared/magnet therapy for their horses? Facebook ads got me again but I ordered an infrared magnetic poll pad to put on Nachos halter and bridle and it’s amazing the difference it’s made, pretty much immediately. He’s not a particularly nervous sort but he is a young Thoroughbred so he would be looky on our rides and sometimes a little antsy being tied for grooming, with the poll pad this man is CHILL when standing he yawns, licks, chews, and practically takes a nap. He’s also relaxes considerably under saddle. The first two times I had him trimmed he was a little difficult, I did have a chiropractor come out and adjust him (his pelvis was out of whack and a sore SI) so while that was detrimental this most recent time he was 80% better. It’s the best $40 I’ve spent on horse gear and I have a lot 😅. I just thought I’d let yall know in case you were curious or had never heard of it before, horses can hold a lot of tension and this is such an inexpensive and simple tool to help.

Wow! Yes, I've heard of this and saw one used in a horse blanket on YT. I was mildly curious since I believe a lot of stuff that some folks feel as "wacky". So to hear your experience is really exciting! Can you give me a link to that poll pad? I just might like to try that on my boy, Stilts. I just wonder if it would give him a little more relaxation now that he has one eye!

The one I bought is from a brand called Benefab, you can find them on Amazon but they also have an actual website and a number of other products. But if you’re wanting the one with magnets it’s the “Smart” version as they’re impossible to tell apart visually otherwise.

It was a beautiful day to go for a horseback ride. Barely 70° , Sunny with a light Breeze. So my girlfriend and I took her two horses and went about three miles down to the state park.

Her 3/4 Friesian (left) and Tennessee Walker that she adopted from a friend of hers that was moving. I rode him. I always wanted to try a Walker and it was pretty neat!
20260521_161624.webpWe had a great time but it's always a bit disappointing that they don't maintain it for the horseback Riders like they do for the hunters. There was mowing that really should have been done and they really need to widen the trails. Kick back all that wild brush! And there's so many trees down in the forest. But once in a while you'll see it right on the trail. This one didn't seem like it was hanging on by very much as we quickly ducked and went under it!

My very first time in a helmet! I've never worn one. I was either in a baseball cap, a cowboy hat or nothing. But after a few concussions ( only one from a horse) at my age, which is old, I figured I better protect my head. My son told me Mom, if you fall off, you're going to die.🤭🤪 Could be I guess. So to satisfy everybody else I wore a helmet. Hey, I never thought I'd be on a horse at this age, so. Forever Young, that's what I say!

Every concussion I've had came from a horse - two incidents would have been fatal or worse, living the rest of my life with little brain function... never feel stupid for wearing a helmet!

I've only ridden a gaited horse twice and man, they are different & smooooth!

I had one mare that was half Arab/half Tennessee walker and she was one of the best game horses around but boy was she flighty.

What beautiful woods! Does the walker gait? I know he’s mostly walker but just curious. Down here in Florida it’s been too hot to ride, up north winter is the off season but here it’s the opposite! I’m spending time instead just bonding with my new horse, grooming and just hanging out mostly. I also always wear a helmet now, he’s a pretty sensible guy but he is young and green. Even on a bomb proof been there type, they can always trip and I’ve even heard of horses having sudden heart attacks. I want to invest in a hit air vest at some point as well, I’ve been told it’s like falling into a pillow.
