Throw Back Thursday

Way back, 1996 or so... A full page ad in Vogue magazine had this Doberman wearing a Tiffany Diamond neckless (I could be wrong about the brand, but you get the idea.) I cut out the picture and pasted it on a bag for Dietrich's Xmas present that year. Actually I kept the bag for several years. Anyway, here's Dietrich looking into the bag to see what she got.

My Dobermans from when I was a kid. Miss them and it’s bittersweet to now have Pepper.
First Doberman Tori
Then we had at the same time 😵‍💫😂 Harley, Heidi, and Diesel. All such sweet Dobermans ❤️

Somehow we got into an old old thread of tbt instead of the recent one! That's ok, I still love looking at the old photos!

I noticed it was quite old and thought it needed a shake. There's some history in this old one, but I digress, it's the one I found to put katydid out there at her 5 week mark.

Just wondering @MichiH , did you expect bittersweetness before you got Pepper, or did that feeling take you by surprise? I had a Sheltie as a kid, growing up in the Brandywine River area. I could imagine that having another might bring out feelings that I knew I would welcome, but also maybe some surprise ones that I might not. And I never thought about the surprise ones till I read that from you.

Great question ☺️
No, I did not expect bittersweet or the emotions I went through when I got Pepper. Emotions were all over once we got home and it sunk in. I would look at her and just cry because she was real and because I missed my previous Dobermans. It all didn’t seem real, as I had waited since I was 15 for my own Doberman and for her to be here was overwhelming.

Brandywine River area where is that? We have the Brandywine Creek in Delaware, we live close to it which I am thankful for! So many trails and wooded areas to explore and never too busy.

My neighbor had a sheltie and he was a beautiful dog and so calm.

I am guessing we are talking about the same thing, only we probably just called it river as kids, no knowing much better? My elementary school years were in Coatesville, PA and high school was in New London, PA. I went to a middle school called North Brandywine. None of this is exactly your back yard but close enough that when you post a pic of Pepper and there is any scenery, like her on that stone wall, for example, it really takes me back to home. To me, it's a unique area with unique everyday scenery, and I have none of it here in the plains of MN. I miss it. It throws me back, to tie back into the thread.

In any case I really appreciate your throwback pics and that having Pepper now is very emotional for you, and the story of why. I can totally get it. It seems like Dobermans get into your soul so much that they do indeed make those who grew up around one cry. Yours is a beautiful story and I am glad you are in DCF to share it. I'm glad you got your Pepper after all those years waiting for her.
Meanwhile, know that I extra appreciate pics of Pepper outdoors with some backdrop.

No way how cool is that we are talking about the same thing! Well, you’re right it should be a river it is massive! Yes, those areas in PA are very close to me, I’m in North Wilmington off 202, PA is 5 min away. I’ve had some skateboard comps for my son in that area as well as traveling around there, beautiful area there too. Our feeder pattern HS is Brandywine High :) not North, but still simialr. I am thankful for the Brandywine to be close to me, I can walk to parts of it. The Brandywine is the redeeming part of why we enjoy where we live, minus all the dang people 🤭

I’ll keep the pics coming for you 🥰 we are at the Brandywine often lots of hills for Pepper to rip through.

Dobermans do weave themselves into your heart ❤️
