Throw Back Thursday

The picture on the right (don't @ me about being in shorts!
Not me! When I was young and at my friends house we rode her horse in shorts, flip flops, sometimes even barefoot (us) and Bareback (the horse!) ! 😆 Now in my day, those shoes were called, thongs!! But some underware company stole the name!

I will tell you to get your heels down on that beautiful Appaloosa, though! 🙄 :spit:

It looks like it's the grandpa's (and grandma's-me 😉) who give the kids that love of horses!

Me on Pal, my grandpa's Morgan.

hubby would put down straw to keep the mud down when the dogs came in.
I wish my hubby would do that instead of what he's been doing. He had cardboard laying over the mud spots and of course it kept blowing away. Now he found the lousiest fence section he could find and put it right by our steps. We have brand new fencing sitting around but noooo. LOL

I think mine came from my paternal great grandfather, Charles Skoog. Swedish immigrant farming in Nebraska, was a major importer of Belgian horses in his day. I have a box of show ribbons from the very early 1900s, plus the hide from his favorite mare which he had made into a blanket. His daughters (incl. my grandmother) covered themselves w/ that blanket as they drove their buggy to school. The hide has worn areas on it from the buggy wheels going round and round.
