I thought I had seen enough Doberman teeth over the years to have a general idea of what they were supposed to look like but this has me stumped.
Could someone please take a look at these and tell me if I am just imagining stuff or not?
This is Dystopias front teeth (about 8yrs old and in need of a Veterinary cleaning but otherwise natural and undamaged / unaltered teeth). Notice how the canine teeth (fangs) are somewhat pointed and the top / front teeth between them are not at all flat across their surface. Almost as if they have a 'tip' in the middle of them?
Now look at Agathas teeth and notice how the canines (fangs) almost look flattened across the tops -
Same with respect to her top (and bottom) front teeth - Is it just me or does it look like they were flattened out with a file?
Agatha is only 2 1/2 yrs old and that is not at all what I would call 'normal' wear. I have not as yet asked her previous owner lady if she had that done cause if she did knowingly have such a thing done to this girl - I am going to say bad words to her about it. Lots of bad words...
I am thinking they BOTH need a visit to a 'proper' doggie dentist. Dystopia for a good cleaning and exam (which she was due for anyway because of her age) and Agatha to see how bad of a mess somebody made of her permanent teeth because they were an idiot.
Just in case anyone was curious - Dystopia gave me no grief at all when I cranked her mouth open with one hand and was taking pictures with the other. Girl did not give a shit about me inspecting her teeth and messing around in her mouth. Same thing if I want to clip her nails - She is not going to give a darn or become distressed in any way if I want to mess with her feet for whatever reason.
Agatha did not like me messing with her teeth and mouth at all. Had to short leash / attach her to me directly to keep her from running AWAY from handling her mouth like I was. No growling or biting (all my fingers is still intact and undamaged) but could tell she definitely did not like it.
Agatha 'used to be' shy about me handling her feet the first few times I went to clip her nails. It was a 'had to attach her to me to keep her from running off' thing those first few times. Not nearly as bad currently. Girl likes to snugglebug with me at night times and I have been trying to give her a few minutes of feet rubbing at some point every night before I go to sleep when she does. She is quickly getting over her nervousness about me handling her feet when I want to.
If I had to rate this girls behavior as far as biting and aggression is concerned to the previous Dober girls I have owned - I would put Agatha about in the middle. The middle range of a bunch of very mild Doberman girls... Agatha is barkey and tries to be territorial to a small extent but nothing that I would consider anywhere near excessive for the breed. Yes, she will bark and run at a stray dog near HER yard (her territory) but that same random dog encounter at the local Tractor Supply gets zero reaction out of her. Not a peep out of her in that environment. Dystopia has no wounds at all and I am not missing any fingers so far.
Not at all what I would consider an overly aggressive dog in any way.
