Hello beautiful family,
My Dobie Lucky has grown up quite a bit since I started this forum. Lately he has been having dry skin issues and what look like pimples. He is also very flakey obviously cause he’s dry. I figure cause I just moved and allergies causing it but I’m trying to avoid it becoming a worse problem. I started giving him fish oil supplement and got an antibacterial shampoo too. I also have a topical ointment that helps sooth the skin.

What do you guys recommend?

I notice you are in Corona, if things get worse or if you want an opinion from a Veterinarian that has a ton of Doberman specific experience, they are right up the 91fwy in Riverside.

Always rule out parasites first with a vet doing a skin scrape before trying anything.

I personally like Ultra Oil. It's sardine, anchovy & hempseed oil. I have one boy that usually has seasonal allergies early to mid-spring.
I didn't want to resort to steroid shots (which is what the vet recommended), so we looked for an alternative. Coconut oil didn't help much and the salmon oil created a big :poop: mess.

We've been using ultra oil for years now and he hasn't had any dry, flaky, itchy issues since.

I also would be working on improving and supporting the Gut microbiome with probiotics. Not all are created equal.
This site has many different ones. She is very helpful in answering any questions. Look up www.adoredbeast.com
