She's here!

We did have a bunch of snow and it's still snowing but O'hare is used to it and will be functional in about 8 hours.

My understanding was it wasn't ten the snoiw that closed it, but the fog. I just hope that the forecast doesn't change much foir next week.

If I could change anything, it would be the airport. I HATE O'Hare. We used to go to Chicago pretty often when the kids were home. We would fly there to watch Cards/Cubs or Blues/Blackhawks games, but never O'Hare. I only experienced O'Hare once on a lay over coming back from somewhere else. I told myself never again! Now I am telling myself only for Rumor.

Like they said on TWC yesterday "it's all relative" when they said it was bitter cold in the south but thought it would be beach weather for people in the north. We don't get the nasty hurricanes so the alternatives up here are snow, ice, bitter cold and tornadoes in the summer.

Me, I'll keep my little spot in fly over America. There is no perfect but I can live with cold and snow where things are more conservative, English is spoken and nobody cares if you put a nativity scene out at Christmas.

That makes sense. I was thinking we didn't get enough snow to close O'hare but I'm an hour from there so maybe.

I've flown out of there and while it's a huge airport, it's laid out better than a few I've been to. Atlanta was the worst when it stretches for miles and it takes forever to get to your gate.
Love that you can track her like a parcel, that's so awesome!
It is really cool and I like the fact that you can see exactly where the plane is in real time.
I was tracking hubbies flight to Alaska last time he went just for fun.
Alaska flight pattern.webp

Dang! I thought I was getting the hang of this tablet that my son bought me. The keyboard is so sensitive, you touch a letter and 10 show up. :wacky: Surprised you could figure out what I was saying. Back to proof reading for me! :blush-alt:

OMG! Atlanta! I go visit a cousin in Florida and have a lay over there. Every time I swear when I get there I'm gonna rent a car and drive from there. Then I remember the traffic in Atlanta and think walking is not so bad.
In some of my research to see where the best place to fly Rumor to, I came across so much info. about airports. One had a listing of the busiest airports. Atlanta was the world's busiest. What's in Atlanta?

What's in Atlanta?
I just went to the GA Aquarium when I was there but I agree that it wouldn't be my dream destination if I were picking a place. I did like the fact that the rail system ran right from the airport to down town and was pretty reasonable. That's another place I wouldn't be fond of driving.

If we ever wind up importing a pup I'd shoot for the Duluth airport rather than Minneapolis. It's smaller and closer but still an international one.

It used to be Harstfield Airport back in the day, now I think it has another name added to it. Can't recall it right off. I always thought if you died and went to hell you would have a layover in Atlanta first. It's a large hub so everytime I flew we always had a layover there.
When I lived in Indiana I would drive to O'Hare a lot to pick up family and friends, it was a nice airport but that was about 40yrs ago. Hahaha
Can't imagine how much it's grown now.
When I think of large airports I think of a huge Petri dish.:anonymous :

I flew out of Hartsfield (I guess technically Hartsfield Jackson) for 4 years when I was working for Delta....I get a little "gaggy" thinking of that hole!
But...you can get some quality "people watching" done!

When do you get your little bundle of joy?

She got bumped from her flight because of Christmas cargo. :( Come on, what kind of BS is that? Retailers get priority over my baby girl? :tap:
She'll be here on the 23rd. In the end it will probably work out for the best. Tonight is our company party, always a big deal that takes a lot of my time. Hubby tells me on Thursday that he ran into some friends of ours that said BTW, we are celebrating Jamie's (their 2 yr. old son) birthday Saturday, we want you there. Hubby said of course, we wouldn't miss it. :furious: So this afternoon we are off to a 2yr. old b-day party.
Then he lays this on me last night. I was thinking it would be nice if you painted some ornaments for some of my clients. We have about 10 or so that have been with us since the beginning and wants to do something special for them. He is thinking that I paint an underwater scene with corals and fish, of course each ornament featuring each clients favorite. He is going to deliver them next week so the first one has to be done by Monday. :censored:
I may be insane by Christmas, can you imagine a puppy under foot?

Well, if it was gonna to be this weekend, the flight may have been cancelled anyway. The weather has caused many cancellations already. Yesterday we started snowing lightly and then it sleeted. A very thin layer of snow with ice on top. My favorite! :wtf3: It's 27F ATM and we are supposed to have intermittent freezing rain today. Then, in the middle of the night, the snow may start as the front will move in, dropping temps like a rock. Tomorrows high will be around 0.

WI got most of the snow yesterday. Some of Northern IL got a couple on inches but I think it's mostly been this freezing rain, sleet crap. I know several people who have changed plans that involved any driving.

Sounds like you are going to be pretty busy! Hopefully the time will fly for you!

Do they fly animals in a heated area of the plane?

I have been watching the forecast like a hawk. Keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't change for the 23rd. Of course that is 2 days before Christmas so I think O'Hare will be a new kind of headache. Her flight is supposed to land @ 7:35 pm. Hopefully we will be on the road home by 9:00 (probably wishful thinking) and drive to Springfield to spend the night. That should make for an easy drive home and get me home early enough to get dinner ready for the guest we are having Christmas Eve. :fingersx: Pretty tight schedule so NOTHING can go wrong.

YES! One of my first questions when we started down this road. Would have been a deal breaker.

There needs to be "WTF" button to click for that crap!

Like I said in a PM, it's probably for the best when they're inundated with Christmas cargo so by next Friday it should be great for her without all of the other stuff they have to worry about.

I know that live animals are their top priority so I'm sure they didn't want her and any others mixed in with the last minute cargo rush before Christmas. Big time bummer for you though.

Did you thank Rob for the extra work this week? Maybe he's just trying to keep you mind off puppy jitters. ;)
