She's here!

And here is Dad....

Over all I like him. I miss the tuck up. But he is more balanced than most. He doesn't have little butt syndrome and his chest is not that silly looking balloon thing.
I think I'm gonna have a girl that is going to drop jaws everywhere!

He's indeed a very handsome boy and when you get the feminine side mixed in there, she's definitely going to drop jaws.
I think if he were doing a US type stack you would see a lot more tuck up there.

I wish Vera would get more pics of the pups, but probably not as much as you. LOL

I do continue to marvel at how a lot of the Euros manage to get such a slope to the topline. Yes, I see that the rear pasterns are forward of vertical a bit, but it's more than that.

Not a comment on this particular Dobe – just something I've always wondered about.

Can't wait to stack her the US way and see what I get. Honestly, no matter what she will be perfect to me. I know I am horrible at see any faults in my own dogs because they always perfect to me.

I don't understand the euro stack at all. Is it what you get used to? I dunno, I just don't see where it accentuates the body type. I have been thinking about having someone in the know explain it to me. I kinda lean toward that stacking style taking away from the beauty, but then what do I know?
I guess it never hurts to learn something. Maybe I'll see if I can find a breeder or somebody that can explain it to me.
@Archer do you know?

I think the Euro stack looks different because they're leaning into it so hard, where the US stack is keeping them more balanced while showing off their best assets. Well the Euro stack is meant to show their best assets too, but in a different way.

This isn't the best shot, but you can see Demelza in more of a US stack here (not a perfect one) and I'm sure your little girl is going to look very similar. She was about 10 months here.

Whilst we are on the subject, I have a question. Why are the mouths open on the Euro dobes? It's always puzzled me
Good question. I suspect the answer may be "that's just the way it is." :spit:

The impression I get as a relative layman is that the Euro Dobes are exhibited in such a manner as to display their power and physical prowess rather then the refinement. It just kind of goes together for me: Lean into the lead, pant a little bit. Show you're a stud.

I also notice Euros may tend to have that longer more pendulous tongue. Maybe they like to show that off ;)

Just my thoughts, not sure if they are accurate as I am more knowledgeable on the NA and SA end of things. They stack to show structure for working purposes. The stance accentuates the chest and shows off the true topline. Many EU breeders and judges feel that a dog that conforms structurally with a strong topline will show a slope when in a natural, alert stance. The interpretation of a strong topline is given more importance in EU as is strength and working ability. Mouth is left open to accentuate the boxy head

I wouldn't have known that before, but @iceman explained it quite some time ago.
Here we go.
First of all...If the weather is cool/cold,the dogs are worked before entering the ring so that they do not shut their mouths while being evaluated..
This is done on purpose because an open mouth can present the underjaw clearly, show the head stronger..
Here is the thread and I thought you might find it interesting since there are quite a few from Rumor's pedigree here.
IDC 2013 World Championship Romania 7-8/09/2013

It's to make their muzzle look more sturdy, balanced or boxier. I wouldn't have known that before, but @iceman explained it quite some time ago.
That makes total sense. I see that so clearly with Oji who has a somewhat diminutive snout. He looks a ton better when he is panting.

An underjaw is able to be visualized with a closed mouth, plus the mouth is opened in the ring to assess dentition anyway. I have never understood the open mouth, as it totally detracts from being able to assess the head properly.

Pretty interesting discussion on the stacking styles. I have always wondered about it and for whatever reason I never bothered to ask.
I did wonder if it had something to do with body style. IDK, seems like it would. The euros being more on the beefy side and the NA being more refined.

Vera sent me a link to watch the IDC Nationals and I have to say it was interesting. Straight in front of each dog is a person with a ball. They are tossing it, waving, offering the ball to get the dog to lean toward them. Probably one of those not good, not bad just different things.

I vastly prefer this over baiting the dog with treats. I've never liked that. No offense to anyone.

I forgot to say that Vera has texted me apologizing for the lack of pics. Her daughter is involved in some kind of Asian type self defense sport (not sure which one) but she is doing really well. Everything in Vera's life is really busy right now but promises it will slow down soon. So stayed tuned...

There are people in AKC conformation that bait with toys. Whatever you have to use to get your dog's attention, keep their focus and add expression

Oh yeah I know, but not like this. These are people in the ring with them and they are way more animated than what you see here. They line the dogs up shoulder to shoulder vs head to butt here. Then about 5 feet or so in front of them is the "baiter", don't know what they call them. But they are right there going nuts trying to get the dog to pull.

Probably would be called a helper. I'm just guessing lol I have no clue. But I know what you're talking about lol
